NCAA Football 10: First Look

Posted On: Feb. 20, 2009 3:17 AM EST By: raczilla 150 Comments

Hey I’m Russ Kiniry, a Designer from the NCAA Football 10 team and wanted to jump on here and offer a little feature added to NCAA Football 10.

Really quick about me: I’ve been here at Tiburon since 2000 when I started as a QA tester. I’ve spent the majority of my EA years on our football titles (and many years before as I grew up on Madden/NCAA like many of you). Currently I’m working on Dynasty and Game-Play features for NCAA Football 10; by far the two most important areas to me personally so it’s a good fit, in my opinion at least J. I’m ecstatic to be here and want to get as much info out as we can to all you guys.

A feature we get asked for by some of the more simulation (SIM) oriented crowd is the ability to just call plays and let the CPU make the moves on the field (basically “Coach Mode”). Just calling plays hasn’t worked in years past because the Quarterback would never throw the ball so you would be stuck making at least one decision on the field.

A new option in the Game Controls Settings called Auto Pass aims to solve the problem. Very simply put when it is turned on your QB will be under CPU control if you just snap the ball and don’t move the analog stick. Note: This option is OFF by Default, so make sure you visit the Game Controls – Passing screen and turn it ON when you pick up the game.

Ideally this provides a different way to play the game and give some of us football purists a way to settle the occasional game by play calling alone (as much as I LOVE giving someone a little D-pad juke).

There are so many more things I want to (and will get to) talk about… Technically I’m not breaking the news so I should be able to get away with a second feature from the Game-Play side of things …

If you’ve been reading this site and seen Ian’s post February 1st Madden NFL 10: First Look which pertained to Procedural Awareness you’ll be happy to know the same technology exists in NCAA Football 10. Please make sure you give the post a look; I don’t want to take away from a great read. Let me say my controllers may actually make it through a year; it’s amazing to see DB’s and WR’s track the ball in the air.

Keep checking back here every week or so for more sneak peeks into NCAA Football 10 from myself and the rest of the team.

-Russ

I really hope the Defense is getting tweaked this year.  As much as i like scoring points i hate playing ranked games online that comes down to who got the ball the most or who won the toss.

Give us an in depth Create-A-School!  And FCS teams with their stadiums (Dont do it if you can't do it right with the stadiums).

  • CGrierWV75 said February 20, 2009

BTW, the screen shots are looking great!!!!  More stadium sounds too!!!  Pat White on the cover!!

  • cdjacobs@hotmail.com said February 20, 2009

Awesome news!  Glad to see 'Coach Mode' return.  Thanks for sharing this info!

  • BillTheMac said February 20, 2009

The screen shot looks great. Glad to see a dedicated ncaa fan working on the game!

If you are able to get the MMO style be a pro mode from NHL in there it would be the biggest jump in football since the creation of the dynasty mode.

  • CPTryder1536 said February 20, 2009

    Great update! Thanks for that!

  • Nef77 said February 20, 2009

if you guys add create a team then make it alot like NHL 09 cuz those guys in canada had great ideas for their entire game. i agree 100% with the 1st comment. the main thing your game needs is a better defense and the FCS team.

Also some of the small things that you should fix is the running (when on the break-away, the runner skips steps) and the pass (on the PS3 when the ball is thrown, the spiral is jacked up. play it and you'll know what i mean)

i love the atmosphere that you guys created in 09 with the crescendo of the crowd on the big play. sometimes though on the replay, the crowd is all looking away from the field. i guess there was a fight in the crowd.

    dynasty mode is great.

the play calling in campus legend needs to be more authentic. i was a receiver on Texas Tech and in some games we ran the more than pass.

Cool stuff....can't wait to see these graphic enhancements in action.  And I'm very interested to see how the PA is going to change the passing game.

  • zay24 said February 20, 2009

there should be more player accescories on the players like towels and hand warmers and different color cleats and make the fans more real like when u win a game they storm the field or win a championship

  • Nef77 said February 20, 2009

    one more thing

thanks for adding new names in the game. how do you know if your name got in the game?

  • CAMREN630 said February 20, 2009

thats a cool feature but is this something that can be used online?

  • PitbullCali22 said February 20, 2009

I would like to see create a team comeback into the game as well as sub formations, Bowl Game Endzone Art, Team specific entrances(for a few big teams), Pre game show or weekly wrap up show, User-controlled TD celebrations these all were great features in last-gen. Bring those back and get rid of mascots games. Also, I would love the ability to customize dynasty mode with ability to do stadium improvements, uniforms creator/changer, building facilities, ability to add/delete plays in each formation, spring game, and coach hiring and firings(a coach that is 3-30 should not stay). Just be able to make changes during dynasty! Schools update and change, we should too.

Overall I love the game but wish ea would read their forums cause people have great ideas to help, or at lease explain why they can do certain things or why they took out something.

  • MGoBlue2745 said February 20, 2009

Well, I would like a totally revamped CL mode. take it like NBA 09: The Life. I'd like Create-A-School which you could tie into CL for you HS playoffs. And I'd like to have it where on Online you have "fair play" where you must have a QB in in at QB and not a WR/CB.

  • RashaunPage said February 20, 2009

Add Creat school put the lip gaurd mouth peices back on the game and more better cleats. and more uniforms and dont make the players so thick and fat.

  • Shopmaster said February 20, 2009

Russ, thanks for sharing with the community what you are working on.  I'm glad to see you guys are doing some of the things they are doing in Madden.  I think one of the things that fustrates me every year between Madden and NCAA is that one will have a great new feature but the other one doesn't add it to their game.  I understand that the games need to be different and that can be done without cheating the gamer on a great feature.  Can you explain why this happens?

I also hope to hear more stuff on what you guys are doing with the defense this year in NCAA, because the "Wide Open Gameplay" was too wide open and was unjoyable even with defenses as great as USC and others.

    Thanks.

Just be sure to keep the online Dynasty and custom stadium music guys.

I agree with what everyone has said. We really need the create a school/team feature BACK!!! Like Nef77 said: Make it like NHL 09, but I say fuse it together with Madden's create a team. Have more equipment like zay24 and RashaunPage were saying. It's like after I rack up a lot of achievements and play through dynasty or Campus Legend, I get bored. So we definitely need it. I also agree with Shopmaster, I liked the wide open play, but that made the game challenging, sometimes frustrating at times. We also need the FCS(D-1AA) football teams. Without Appalachian State crusading first by upsetting Michigan in Michigan Stadium. It just doesn't get bigger than that. Plus, like CGrierWV75 said: Have the FCS teams stadium, if not, then don't do it. I'd like to add when we create a team, we could have like designed uniforms from UnderArmour and Nike, and Adidas, or we create our own uniforms and we could put the company's logo on our uniforms.

Who really cares if the players' eyes follow the ball or anything else for that matter? Madden 09 & NCAA 09 for the PS3 were awful excuses for football games. Tecmo Super Bowl for the SNES was more challenging and exciting. PLEASE spend your time fixing all the problems with what you put out last year before working on things to make the games LOOK better. If they are not fun or challenging to play, who cares what they look like. I can watch real football to see eyes following balls. The games weren't challenging. They were way too easy. Look at Madden 08 & NCAA 08 for the PS2 and use that as a great starting point. They had their bugs but they were fun and it took a while to get good. The two games you put out last year for the PS3 were just awful. I have never been more disappointed with a video game in my life (that goes for both). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. You have to know exactly what I'm talking about. There were so many bugs and the way the game played it was like it was designed for 6 or 7 year old kids. They looked great but there was no challenge as far as actually playing football or making realistic football decisions. I know why you did it. If a game gets a reputation as been too hard to learn, people won't buy it knowing they'll have to actually invest time into playing it for more than 10 minutes in order to be competitive. I could write a book on everything that was/is wrong with those two games (PS3 versions, I don't know about the PS2 offerings as I never played them). I PRAY TO GOD you've read and listened and considered everything that was posted in these forums about those games and have made MAJOR changes. I honestly don't think a year will have been enough time. If you take the 2008 PS2 versions of both games and compare them to what you put out for the PS3 last year, there were so many things different it was shocking. You can start by giving the QB more options. Allow the QB to pull the ball down and run or call a receiver back. The way it is now, his arm is cocked for passing the whole time he is behind the line of scrimmage. It's just laughingly dumb and simple. That's just a start. Find my other posts for more details. I don't have time to actually write a book. I'm sorry but, I'm going to read reviews this time and then, if those are positive, rent the game first before shelling out $150 (for both) to you guys again. Call me a pessimistic "Negative Nellie" but you turned these two games in a direction that I think will take years to correct. Someone there at EA just doesn't get it. I hope so much that I'm wrong. PLEASE overhaul the whole thing. They look really nice but that's it. No challenge. No fun.

This so far is good but I really want yall to do something and this is a huge favor. I want yall to add back in the pre-game warm-ups.Like show the QB throwing the ball to the WR and the RB doing some drills or something.Add a half time show, make crowds louder, add post game interviews and coach being poured on by gator rade at the end of the game. Also show the players walk on the feild at the end of the game and congradulate each other & run out of the tunnels and banners in the beginning of the game before pregame.

And add half time shows and maybe when the QB takes a knee at the end of the game when there is like 20 sec. left and the other team has no timeouts show everyone walk on the feild since the game is over.

    MAKE IT REALISTIC!!!!!

    AND THANKS FOR LISTENING

  • JoJoUGA-Receiver said February 20, 2009

aND EVERYONE ELSE IS RIGHT ADD TOWELS AND NEW CLEAT ADJUSTMENTS AND PREGAME WARMUPS, POST GAME WARM UPS ,POST GAME INTERVIEWS, PLAYERS RUNNING OUT OF TUNNELS, GATOR RADE POURED ON COACHES, SIDELINE REALISTIC AND HAVE ACTUAL PLAYERS, OVER EXCESSIVE CELEBRATION PENALTIES, CROWD STORMING ON FEILD, PLAYERS WALK ON FEILD WHEN QB TAKES KNEE WITH A COUPLE SECONDS LEFT CONGRADULATING EACH OTHER AND MORE.

AND ADD CREATE-A-TEAM AGAIN JUST LIKE PS2.

I HATE TO SAY BUT EVERONE I ASKED LOVES THESE FEATURES AND PROBABLY WONT BUY YOUR GAMES ANYMORE IF YOU DON'T MAKE ADJUSTMENTS LIKE THESE. MAKE THE GAME REALISTIC

Improve recruiting to make it more time friendly. The biggest thing, and I've asked for this for years, is stadium expansion. When bringing up a crapbox team who has a 25K capacity stadium should have offers of expansion of the stadium, especially when coming into a bigger and better conference. It only makes sense from a visual, "home field advantage", and recruiting stand point.

For me I need to see improvement on the defensive side blitzing was ineffective man and zone converage was worst PA sounds nice but only if it helps, also please being back create a playbook feature or at least lets us create our own hot routes.

  • aTEXASTECHfan said February 20, 2009

The Offensive/Defensive lines look unrealistic. Today I was playing NCAA Football 2009 and when I snapped the ball, my left guard ran behind the whole offensive line and up the field. The offensive line should backpedal and block the defensive lineman like in real life.

Also, please add Texas Tech's offensive line style. The offensive lineman are spread much farther apart in real life than in NCAA Football 2009.

I've been playing EA games since commodore 64. Your the only football we have!!!

GET IT TOGETHER!!! Less GIMMICKS; refine what you already have!!!             Last-Gen Madden/NCAA have a larger feature set than your current-gen offering.

We all want the same thing!!!

Better Presentation (2k5 had SportsCenter- Hint,Hint)!!!!!!

    Custom Teams, Players, Uniforms, Stadiums!!!!!!

    Realistic individual player AI

IF I may quote, JoJoUGA "ADD TOWELS AND NEW CLEAT ADJUSTMENTS AND PREGAME WARM UPS, POST GAME WARM UPS ,POST GAME INTERVIEWS, PLAYERS RUNNING OUT OF TUNNELS, GATOR-ADE POURED ON COACHES, SIDELINE REALISTIC AND HAVE ACTUAL PLAYERS, OVER EXCESSIVE CELEBRATION PENALTIES, CROWD STORMING ON FIELD, PLAYERS WALK ON FIELD WHEN QB TAKES KNEE WITH A COUPLE SECONDS LEFT CONGRADULATING EACH OTHER AND MORE".

    I'm Calling you guys out!!! Next-Gen Madden/NCAA: B-

I play Madden09/NCAA09 on the PS2 & love every minute of it!

  • all_fitch84 said February 21, 2009

I like the idea of the awareness thing because that's always been something that bugged me. Throwing the ball and the guy never seeing it and still intercepting it. Great feature to add. I'd like to see the game a little more like madden as far as defenses being better. It seems like the field is a little too big for the players. The holes are sometimes way too big but there are times when this happens so don't completely eliminate it. I liked the feature where you could put in your own playbook. Picking different formations that you like. This time instead of just 12 in your playbook... you should be able to have 20, even 30 because if I were a coach, I'd run plays from almost every formation there is because then the defenses would have no idea what was coming. I'd also like to see better blitz packages, more complex ones. More awareness in zone coverages too. Better fade route capabilities would be nice. It seems like the computer gives away their defenses too much, so that needs adjusting. Eliminate that glitch where when your RB catches the ball on a flare, then he just runs out of bounds basically. When it comes to juke moves and spins, I'd like to see defensive players get frozen and fall back on their butts or just completely whiff on a tackles due to a great, perfectly timed move. Also, fix the glitch where the play gets reviewed even though there was nothing to review. One more thing... I've noticed that the curl route is always open no matter what coverage you play as the defense, cover 2 man/zone, cover 3, it doesn't matter the computer is always, always open and it's really annoying. Note to add: a few years back I emailed you guys about different things to add into the madden games and over the past 2 or 3 years, nearly everything i mentioned was added. Coincidence? I need a job, so maybe you could add me to the team to be a realism tester or something? I live in one of the worst unemployment rated places int he country(Elkhart County, IN). I know a lot about nascar and football. I'd be a great asset if given the chance. This was my plea!

  • JoJoUGA-Receiver said February 21, 2009

and post videos from time to time so we can see progress and please consider what we all have to say because we all agree and these subjects we tghink yall should add especially pregame and post game and crowds on the feild during a close game.

I THINK EVERYONE AGREES THAT IF YOU DO NOT MAKE IMPROVEMENTS LIKE THESE, YALL WILL LOSE THOUSANDS OF FANS AND YOU CAN GET RID OF THE MASCO GAMES CAUSE THEY'RE POINTLESS

  • Sweep 37 said February 21, 2009

Recruiting should be a little more in depth example let say your recruitng a 5 Star Player that has a Low interest in Academics, but a High interest in being a Pro than that player should have Academic issues during his career be it being ineligble before a big game or Possibly Bowl Game and so on. 2 everthing Jo Jo UGA-Receiver said and i mean everything. Thanxx

  • KINGofOHIO7 said February 21, 2009

Heres what I want to see: 1. you need create-a-team back. there are so many diverse jersey styles out there, you can incorporate into the jersey maker. Also with EAsports world you should have the ability to upload your own graphic into the game. 2. formation subs. right now you can change only one player in a formation at a time. i want it so you can actually go in and change a bunch of people just like in 08. 3. FCS teams + stadiums. 4. bowl game endzone art. 5. incorporate a "college gameday" show into each weeks game. that would be amazing! also have halftime and postgame show. 6. even though i hate to say this, have suspensions due to off-field problems, thats a big problem in NCAA and it should be considered. 7. in terms of accessories, i want to see the half sleeved under-armour look that Terrelle Pryor sported in the fiesta bowl. as well as having eye black and being able to write stuff on the eye black. theres so much more i'd like but thats a start.

  • OmahaHeros said February 21, 2009

I think you need to put a "Live season tracker" option in the game.  This option would be updated via Xbox Live with the current stats and trends of the season.  Then there could be a play the games of the week option allowing you to play the big games that are being talked about on college game day and ultimately playing the college game day game.  If players are on hot streaks or injured that would be reflected in the game.

  • campbell2009 said February 21, 2009

  • RedCerealBox said February 21, 2009

The "Be a Pro Mode" was very good but i say u should bring back the workouts you have to do before u choose a school, still keep the high school playoffs but just add the workouts after, and bring back the whole get a girlfriend, dorm room, and the choosing a major, or running drills i really liked that and it made people feel more connected to the game, basically just bring back everything that was in the NCAA 07 "Be a Pro Mode" lol

  • buckswr7 said February 21, 2009

Yeah i also want a create a team mode. There should also be like when you upset a team the crowd should storm the field and before the game have warm ups and show the whole college gameday crew on set at the stadium like on the ps2 version and before the game have team specific entrances like Georgia running by and touching the bulldog and clemson coming down the hill and touching howards rock and stuff like that. Also like some other people have said we would like to have hand warmers and towels where you could put it on the left or right side or the front. Also get the new helmet styles in like the ions and stuff like that. Also have in the accessories area where u can have just one sleeve like zac robinson had and u could put it on the left or right side and it can be team color, black, or white and like RedCerealBox said that he would like all the stuff from campus legend mode in the ps2 version that would be great

I really dont think this is too much to ask for so please get them in there

  • Harpstar said February 21, 2009

I think it's a great feature. It would be nice if you could select a different camera view so that you're not always looking from behind the quarterback. Maybe you could have a booth cam so we could feel like joe pa sending calls down the the field.

  • ronnymund said February 21, 2009

Please put towels and the latest cleat brands in the game.  Also put nplaming the football with two hands and one hand on it.  Thanx

Hey me an my buddies play this online dynasty thing pretty tough. We all came to a conclusion that maybe if we could watch user's play their games it'll be sweet man. Cuz we talk trash to one another...lol. But That'll be sweet so serious. And also bring back the Div II schools, cuz we all play wit low ranked squads an try an build our teams up. An the campus legend is sweet, but give us more games. I know you prolly wont fulfill our wishes, but that'll be super sweet. We love Ncaa football...keep us happy. Oh yea, an the recuiting should be more like ncaa basketball 09. Thats cool.

  • JoJoUGA-Receiver said February 21, 2009

OKAY GUYS I THINK THAT I SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY THAT NCAA 10 IS GOING TO NEED SOME MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS IF THEY WANT TO KEEP THEIR FANS. FIRST OF ALL THEY ARE GOING TO NEED TO HAVE PRE-GAME SHOWS WHERE THE TEAM BREAKS OUT THROUGH THE TUNNELS AND BANNERS WITH THE CHEERLEADERS. IF THERE IS A TEAM LIKE CLEMSON OR ETC, THE PLAYER SHOULD ENTER FROM HOWARDS ROCK JUST LIKE REAL LIFE. THE QB NEEDS TO BE THROWING THE BALL AROUND WITH THE RECEIVER, THE RUNNING BACK NEEDS TO BE DOING DRILLS AND THE DEFENSE NEEDS TO BE HYPED JUST LIKE THE 2K GAMES. NEW EQUIPMENT NEEDS TO BE ADDED SUCH AS TOWELS, HAND WARMERS, 1-ARMED SLEEVES AND MORE. THEY ALSO NEED TO ADD A COLOR BOARD AGAIN SO WE CAN CHOSE THE COLORS WE WANT.WE NEED CREATE-A-TEAM ASWELL. AND TAKE OFF THE LAME MASCOT GAMES AND PUT ALL THE LITTLE THINGS BACK IN. WE ALSO NEED POST GAME INTERVIEWS AND REALISTIC GAMEPLAY!!! WHEN THE QB TAKES A KNEE AT THE END OFF THE GAME AND THE OTHER TEAM HAS NO TIMEOUTS SHOW EVERYONE WALK ON THE FEILD WITH THE TIME TICKING DOWN. CALL QB KNEEL, VICTORY WHEN THE OTHER TEAMS HAVE NO TIMEOUTS TOO. AND MAKE THE STADIUMS LOUDER. ADD D-1AA BACK TO MAKE THE GAME BETTER. WHEN THE GAME IS A BLOWOUT IN 4TH QUARTER SHOW PEOPLE LEAVE IF THE TEAM GETTING BLOWN OUT IS AT HOME. MAKE THE SIDELINES WITH THE ACTUAL PLAYERS, PUT REFS ON THE FEILD AND IF SOMEONE GETS INJURED, DONT SHOW HIM GETTING UP AND WALKING OFF SHOW COACHES AND TRAINERS COMING ON THE FEILD TO ASSIST HIM. IF THE GAME STARTS AT 6:00 AND IT'S  LIGHT OUTSIDE BY THE 3RD QUARTER SHOW THE SKY GET DARK. ADD HALF-TIME SHOWS. MAKE BOWL GAME ENTRNCES LOOK BETTER THAN NORMAL ENTRANCES ESPECIALLY IN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. SHOW THE REFS MEASURING SPOTS OF BALL AND SHOW COIN TOSS AT THE BEGINNING. AND IN DYNASTY SHOW WHAT GOES ON IN THE CAMPUS AND SUSPENSIONS JUST LIKE 2005 ON PS2/XBOX.

  • jonboijxt123 said February 21, 2009

They should let you be able to create a school, play with div 1AA schools, and in dynsty mode I think you should be able to take a sub par team build them up to a powerhouse make new stadiums(or add to prexisting ones)and boost attendance in your stadium.

  • jonboijxt123 said February 21, 2009

Show players warming up, player indroductions, commentators introduce key players,

diffrent color cleats, suspensions, Update jerseys have everones alternate jersey and classic jerseys, intergrate espn more like have a top 10 plays show or a weekly wrap up show and have college gameday live, more player accessories like one sleeve underarmour, and more helmet styles different cleat colors. and most importantly nclude create a school and div 1AA schools serouisly.

  • baker26 said February 22, 2009

i thank the defense in ncaa 2010 should be made better then the defense in ncaa 2009. take for example this. when you recruit a pass rushing defensive end in dynastey mode. he can't even get to the quaterback any at all no matter what ajustments you make. same goes with a run stoping defensive tackle. he can't plug up the middle to stop the run hardly. now to the corners. if you get a coverage cornerback, you expect him to be that. to lock down his guy and stick with him. but they don't. i don't like that the linebackers can keep up with wide receiver's. i don't like it when the computers corners are 10 yards from the play and the balls comeing down to your receiver they get there in a snap to knock it down or pick it off. the defense is the bigest concern. until it gets fixed i don't see myself shelling out 65.00 dollars for ncaa 2010

  • carrot1717 said February 22, 2009

i think they should have it to where on me and my friends online dynasty we should not be recruiting guys who run 4.16 forties no one can do that and then once you get him say he's a 3 star wideout he can't be stopped because of his speed(and we play on heisman so it cant be the difficulty its just that in the game speed always wins.

  • Rammerjammer95 said February 22, 2009

I would like to see some more songs and cheers that are unique to each team.  There are a lot of them in the SEC, like Ole Miss's Hotty Toddy and Alabama's Rammer Jammer.

I also think, if you guys still have Lee and Kirk down there, the comentary needs to be more in depth.  They could talk about conference races and all-american/ Heisman potential players.  It would also be neat if they mentioned tough losses that a team has had or what they need to do to get back on track.

And, while playoffs are a hot topic, why not make a playoff feature in the game?  It would be fun for groups of friends to be able to set up a four, six or eight team playoff with each other (I personally think the NCAA should have a six team playoff, with number 1 and number two getting first byes).  You could also just set up a playoff by yourself.  You could also have an option in the dynasty setup menu that allowed you to make a dynasty with a playoff every year.

And could you guys try to make the features for the different systems more or less equal?  My PS2 died, so I have been playing NCAA 09 on my Wii.  I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but it needs some SERIOUS work.  It almost looks like you guys took NCAA 1999 or something and put it on a Wii disk.  Both it and the PSP version are missing some pretty big features.  However the PSP graphics are pretty good.

Also, I'm glad that you guys have the "procedural awareness" technology in 2010.  I am sure that it will the game a TON better.

    Thank you for reading!

PS3:  A) Knowshaun Moreno, UGA  B) Chris Wells, Ohio st  C) LeSaun McCoy, Pitt

And also bring back colored tape.

This game sound better already... remember thoigh that according to polls dynasty/franchise are the most played game modes. a suggestion from an avid fan of ea sports' football games... make these game modes as fun and interactive as possible... and please try to shorten the simulation length in the off season. i can't tell you how boring it is to sim through the off season and wait as it takes an eon to finish the jobs i didn't feel like doing that year

  • JDuf08 said February 22, 2009

cmon!!! everyone wants create a team back!!!  make it custom like you start off small with hardly any facilities and as you win more each year you build upgrades to your stadium, campus, sponsorships on uniforms...etc...and how bout letting the ball spin on a pass? even PS2 had that..

Online dynasty is the best feature ever (I'm in my 10th season with the same 7 players).  Though I would like to see  a few additions.

    MY WISH LIST

    1. Automatically update week after last person has completed their last game or finished recruiting.  Somtimes the online commish can't immediately update. At least give the option to the commish to make this decision.

2.Human players get to vote in coaches poll

    3. I like giving the option of a playoff at the end of the year.

    4. Hiring/firing coaches is a must.  If a coach doesn't meet realistic goals then he must go.

    5. End of season all star game for sr's(east vs west)

    6. Medical redshirts

    7. Look at dynasty stats on the computer

    8. Rumor Mill page in ESPN Headline News (what recruit is visiting what school, coach on hot seat, player leaving early for NFL draft etc)

    9. Coach of the year award (based on record, overall school rating of school, strength of schedule.

I must say I have been playing video games for a long time and the dynasty mode in 09 is one of the best features ever added.  I along with my 7 fellow online league dynasty players are looking foward to NCAA 10.

  • Lighthouse77 said February 22, 2009

There's a lot of good ideas here. I especially like the idea of authentic team entrances for home and away teams where the fans cheer then mixed boos when the visitors come out. I would get rid of the mascot games and save the space for the good suggestions above.

Also, I'd love to see something new like a Conference Challenge mode. You pick your favorite team and play everyone in D-1A, conference by conference. Then you have to go back and play the teams you lost to on their field. And as your playing have all the other teams simulated game to game. After the games are played then give us the luxury of taking the top 16 teams and have a playoff. It would be a different kind of national championship.

I do this anyway but there's no simulation and no participation with the other teams games. It'd be nice to have the system simulate the other games since we'd have all those games to play ourselves. It's a lot of games but look how many games people play with the modes you're offering now. People are always looking for a different challenge and I like the idea of playing many other teams but under an organized system with simulation to help out.

I agree with some of the above about making what you have better and add the team entrances and more sideline realism like a TV camera on those dolley's that go back and forth televising the games. Thanks for listening.

  • GTRUTH said February 22, 2009

Will the PA make the receiver go after the ball I hope it does.  Also can you please fix the D side of the game I want my elite players to make an impact. If my corner or safety is rated 90 or higher they should be game changers just like in real life. And bring back the spring game.

I Wanna know if someone from EA reads this   if so.... comment saying u do

  • SNIC E said February 23, 2009

I just want to say that if you are bringing back the coaching mode implement a hire in process/slash play mode so that a person can gain accomplishment in starting at a little program and working their way up. Of course people love big programs but if people want realism Pete ain't going to leave USC so some no name can take over and having an interactive coach/slash player program in the game just adds alot of dimensions to the game. Scheduling should maintain realism also b/c cost factors in real life is why we will never see big programs going to play at much smaller programs but great times can be had starting out coaching lower level or Div 1AA or Div 2 teams and building up a program or a coach status to get to bigger programs or schools. Prestige is an important part of college football its like the money for college players before the cash in the big league!! FYI I would love to be a game tester EA so if your looking for an outside opinion on game testing I'm sure you know how to contact me...

  • Hybrid45 said February 23, 2009

There should be the option to have the game set to wide screen so you can se the whole felid, cause I hate when you can see tall the DBs and WRs. And the option to remove the 1st down line and have the officials standing with the down marker and yard maker, to make it feel more real. Bring the officials back on the field, and let them get hit, or you can use them as a blocker when running the ball.

I would like to see that in the game also

  • Jambrosius2013 said February 23, 2009

I think that in campus legend mode you should be able to have a little bit more of a variety of what you want to do every night, the GPA goes down to esaliy too. one ther thing that you could do in campus legend and dynasty mode before games or like on fridays before the game you should have a pep ralley. that would be awsome. if your the coach you have to pick what you want to say, or impact player.

  • mitchellgordo said February 23, 2009

I first want to say that I absolutely love this game and have bought this game every year since it came out.  I have a few things that I would like to offer that I think might improve the game.

    * recievers draging their feet and falling when they are a couple yards from the sideline.

    * defenders can dive and make a tackle from behind when they are 4-5 yards back.

    * The difference in a good team and a bad team is rediculous.  I realize there is a speed difference between Georgia and Georgia Tech, but it's not that big of a difference.  Just the overall speed of the players in the game is not very realistic IMO.  for example...on kickoffs the returner is past the 20 before the kickoff team is in position to make a play, and this is on a ball kicked in the endzone.

    * There are a few players that are just faster than everyone else, but they are few and far between.  The difference in speed is not that great from one team to the next.  Good teams beat bad teams because of size and "awareness" on defense.  O-line play should also be a major factor.

    * I love dynasty play, and I spend 90% of my time with that mode of the game.  There are too many guys running sub 4.4 40's.  players size does not progress like it should over their first couple years.  If i sign a DE 6'5" who is 200 and runs a 4.5, with great quickness.  I expect him to be 230 by his 2nd year but maybe running a 4.6.  Also I had 3 FS that were all top notch players but no SS, so I move a guy who is 6'2" 225 to ss and has a 98 speed at the fs position.  This was done in the off-season he speed switch to 89 and he became an average player.  I know that his awarness should decline, but speed??  and after a year he should regain his ability IMO after he gets used to the position.  Not that big of a jump.

Also, a big ss should be able to move to OLB in a 3-4 scheme at a rush end.  Expecially after a redshirt year.

    * the contact is not very realistic when players tie up in the trenches.

IMO  don't waste too much time will pregame bells and wistles... No one is really going to watch the same thing over and over after playing the game for a while, no matter how cool it is.

    Thanks, mitchellgordo@hotmail.com

  • mitchellgordo said February 23, 2009

  • jwilphl said February 23, 2009

There are quite a few issues that need fixed with both NCAA and Madden before these minor optional components ought to be added.  Coach mode sounds great for the five people that want to play NCAA Head Coach, but realistically there are much broader changes that I see as crucial to improve the game.  Can we discuss those issues instead?

How about gameplay or animation enhancements? Or maybe adding depth to flimsy game modes?  There's also improving the whole non-existent presentation aspect of the game; it might play better if the college atmosphere is better represented.

  • yoyoyo454 said February 23, 2009

A great option would be in the online dynasty mode you can watch other members of the league play

  • mp1411 said February 24, 2009

I still can't figure out how to choose or adjust my non-conference schedule while in legend mode.  Is it possible? I play my alma mater - a mid-major but want a "loaded" schedule so I can make it to the national title game without having to win every game by a blowout.

And- make the bowl games "special" big games should be played at night - with a special feeling at the start.  Instead I end up playing the BCS title game at the Orange Bowl in the middle of the day... not realistic.

Also, all that SIMing in the off season with all the player changes... is it possible to receive a summary sheet that shows who's been recruited or who left (graduated early or transferred out) on my team?

AND - I hate it when the game decides to move my best TE to interior lineman because he blocks better. A real coach would never sacrifice a great offensive weapon for interior blocking.  But since I can't adjust depth charts in legend mode.. I'm stuck with the second or third stringer filling in at TE.  Why can't we make adjustments to other position depth charts besides my legend (who should have to earn his way into starting position).

I'm a newcomer to the college game...so if the above already exists I'd love to know... love the game though!

  • twig87100 said February 24, 2009

for ncaa football 2010 you guys should make offseason section in the dynasty mode. were you could have control of each player were you could have them workout like doing bench press squrt deadlift and other typs of workouts that football players during the offseason.

  • jdkutter13 said February 24, 2009

How about instead of worry about where the receivers eyes are looking, you fix glitches like players dragging their feet and falling well inbounds. or receivers running their short dump passes behind the line immediately out of bounds without even trying to turn upfield. Those are some major annoyances.

Now if you want to talk NEW stuff.. bring back the OLD stuff. bring back the division I-AA teams, we miss those. get rid of the mascot games, i, nor my friends, have EVER played those. Waste of disc space.

Online dynasty is fun. It gets boring though when you have a bye week and have to wait for everyone else to play, why not make it possible to watch two of your friends play their game? As a spectator, that would be amazing!

Also, we miss earning penants to unlock Historic teams. Historic teams were a lot of fun to use! Added a huge amount of variety to the game instead of just using the same teams over and over.

I agree with a lot said up above as well... give Bowl games a special feel. Little glicthes in the game get bothersome too. Work on that stuff before you add something useless like being able to watch the SIM. Who sims anyway?? Why buy a game for $60 to SIM it, makes no sense. And please, take away the mascot games, nobody plays them. Use that disc space to improve crowd graphics!

  • Ortego8114 said February 24, 2009

    bring back create a school

  • mashpotatoes said February 24, 2009

All in all I feel that the graphics are great – Tiburon should spend less time on graphics, and more time game play… I would start by enhancing the crowd and making them more aware of what is going in the game, better sound and better looking.

I would enhance the sidelines by adding more people (I mean look at a Saturday college football game – people everywhere on the sidelines).  In addition, I would make them to be interactive (diving out of the way when a play gets push out of bounds).  And where are the coaches pacing the sidelines?

I would like to see referees brought back into the game (since they are apart of the game).  Keep making the game more and more realistic!

I like the morale factor in the game… what about having a pep talk to your team before game and at halftime to boast up players morale?  Or single out individuals when players aren’t performing like they should be?  Have benching them make them want to play harder (because nobody wants to be benched).

I think its to easy for quarterbacks to make perfect throws every time (even when under pressure).  Where are the dropped passes (especially when getting blasted)?  I have my settings reworked to make it so my quarterback throws inaccurate (set at 20%) – makes it more realistic.  I also turn down the receiver’s ability to catch every pass as well.  Anything to make the game more realistic.

I also hope they will do something about the defense because it was virtually impossible to get pressure on the quarterback unless it was USC vs. Buffalo. I would like them to bring back the spring game, not just to play it but to actually pick your impact players... too many times during a dynasty it would make a useless player that I never use my impact player and no matter how many passing yards, or rushing yards another player may have they still wouldn't become impact.

One thing that really hasn't been talked much about on this thread is the pass defense.  It's atrocious.  The speed stat is the only thing that matters in the whole game.  if you have a speedy rb, qb, and wr you can win every game.  Man defense doesn't work.  You are forced into using the same types of plays every time.  zone/zone blitz.  that's not football.  man, zone, and combos can stop any play if executed correctly, but that's not true in the game.  Madden balanced it pretty well.  Speed isn't quite everything.  Randy Moss can be contained.  Percy Harvin cannot.  The defensive line is fairly useless, and Linebackers are far underutilized.  IMO the LB is the most important position on defense.  but in the game you just need speedy cb's and safeties.  Create a school is a definite, upgrading stadiums, fcs schools and stadiums to go along with them.  But please focus on the actual football before adding things like school traditions.  I go to WVU and we have great traditions that would be awesome to see in-game but i would much rather have my defense that isn't the fastest be able to stop teams like normal.

Punt return coverage is broken, i swear.  you kick the ball the right distance, not too far, but not too short and you get there and miss the tackle 70% of the time.

I just feel like this new coach mode will just take up space and time needed to fix the actual game.  just balance it.  in football, speed isn't everything, it matters, but is not everything.  a well coached, well executed team will keep up with a faster team.  make it happen

    CREATE-A-SCHOOL!

  • Ribo Ista said February 25, 2009

I don't know if anyone involved with the game actually bothers to read any of these comments, but here are some quick hits on making the game better...

#1 Do away with all the extra-curricular stuff.  I don't care about fan signs and all that.  Just let me play the game.  You should be able to hit a button and skip all that stuff, i.e. the transition between quarters and half-time.

#2 How about a mode called the "Arms Race" in the Dynasty settings where you are "trying to keep up with the Jonse's" so to speak.  Facility enhancements are a real part of the college football atmosphere today and it SHOULD be addressed in the game.  The ability to add better facilities like bigger weight rooms, team dorms, better locker rooms, state of the art turf, etc... should be dependent upon money earned by teh team.  Winners have more people in the stands making more money and getting better tv deals and product endorements.  The more money you have, the better your facilities because you have more money to spend.  The facilities are a HUGE part of recruiting nowadays.  To ignore this aspect in teh game is a sin.

#3 Almost everyone wants a playoff.  Why not have a playoff mode in the game.  Have a field of 64 teams.  Let the gamer pick the teams himself or let the computer generate the field along with the players favorite team.

#4 You wasted money on an Arena football game that nobody wanted.  Why not have a FCS game, or at least be able to play the FCS on the current game.  Eliminating a lot of unnecessary fan scenes and would free up the memory space to incorporate it into the game.  Being able to play as an FCS team and go through an FCS season against other FCS opponents and into the FCS playoff SHOULD be in the game.  As a fan of college footall as a whole, even though my favorite team is a BCS team, I would love to be able to play in an FCS mode as well.  Even if it meant buying a completely different title from EA to do so.

#5 You absolutely need a mode where a player can create their own conference line-up.  This could be done very easily, and one (or both) of two ways.  One would be to take an existing conference and be able to replace current members with teams of your choice.  Or two, be able to create an all-new conference (possibly eliminating an existing one to create the new one) and be able to make it between 8-12 teams, allowing a player the choice to start as an 8 team conference and add teams over time, lobby for a BCS auotmatic bid, form a 12 team super conference with a championship game, etc...

#6 Have the coaches names in the game, and have a pool of coaches to hire and fire as assistants that would enhance the players like occurs in Madden.  Some could be stronger recruiters but not as great at technique, etc..

IMO EA could distribute the worst NCAA football game ever...and we'd still buy it.  We have no other choice.  That's the nice thing about MLB,NHL, and NBA games.  There's variety. Don't get me wrong.  I enjoy playing NCAA 09.  I've put a ton of hours into that game.  But, there are quite a few things that need to be addressed.  Although it may be small, the main problem I have is the physics of the football itself.  It either doesn't rotate when thrown, or rotates slowly counter-clockwise from a right handed qb. I dont get it.  How could they not know this or address it.  Like everyone else.  I would enjoy a little more in depth dynasty. Player suspensions was a good idea. That happens alot.  I want dreads, more options as far as facial features, facial hair.  Install the new Schutt helmets.  Those Revolution face masks look like abosolute garbage!  Everytime I have an incoming freshman with those I change it right away.  DB's "floating" ten yards at the last second to pick me off. Linebackers jumpin 13 feet in the air to bat my pass.  Custom entrances i'm also high on.  I would like the fans to be more loud.  Boo when your qb throws a pick in the endzone.  I could go on for hours.  I want the same *** as everyone else does.  But the only question is...will they every produce a game that will completly satisfy all of us?  I highly doubt it

    Go Blue

by the way im glad about this feature those whoo havent read about it on madden it address this if the DB doesnt have a eye on it hes not intercepting so that has been address but hopefully this doesnt make the deffense wost than it already is and i cant really suppot he suspension ideal unless its campus legend mode yea u deal with it in real life but that suck if i lose my star qb for some dumb grades maybe have practices to prepare ur team against the upcomming game and those practice effect your team game play in the game or something like that

  • Hawaii2024 said February 25, 2009

Yea, I would also like to see the Create-A-School feature in 2010. I would also like to see the feature for eye-black with the school logos on them as well as some lip-cover mouthpieces.

  • FIU47stuckey3 said February 25, 2009

I INCREDIBLE would it be if players could transfer from school to school based on like a moral scale /or you could attract a player to your school, and i think Create-a-team would be awsome an it would be really cool to be able to build or generally renovate your own stadium. and ACTUAL traing such as 40 yrd dash and presses would be cool aswell

I hope to see many of these great ideas on display on NCAA Football X

  • Captain_Spalding said February 25, 2009

The "Ask Corso" defensive play calls are usually terrible.  For example, on 3rd and 1, you may not even see one blitz package as a selection so then you have to call an audible at the line - then the computer calls an audible and they convert.  Also, it seems defenses tend to blitz both corner too often.  This makes the game easier if you like to pass the more often as it leaves receivers wide open depending what offensive play (and routes) was called.

Is their a feature where you can design (not a hot route...) your own play?  How about an option where you can create your own playbook?

  • paldwinsheart said February 26, 2009

Over the years, I have seen the NCAA footbal franchise get increasingly better.  It is great that you guys brought back the cheerleaders and the refs and it has only helped to make the game more realistic. However, I would like for it to become more personal. If you assume the role as a head coach of a division 1 school then you would like for the coach to be involved. Such like the coach reacting on the sideline to a penalty or congradulating his players for a good play or even a pregame or post game show that mentions the achievements of what the coach has accomplished and the performance of the impact players.  Right now, the coaching stats are kind of hidden away and it doesn't feel personal.  I am not sure how feasible it would be but I would like to have assistant coaches added. A head coach is only as good as the coaches that work for him. These assistants would help with player development and progression. For example, a linebacker coach with a rating of 10 would have linebackers develop quicker than with a coach with a rating of 5.  The head coach would have the ability to hire and fire these assistants. It is just a thought. There is something else that bugs me and that is when you are the home team and you are beating the snot out of the other team your fans leave as if the are the away team. What is up with that? In the PS3 version, I miss the pregame warm-ups and the coin toss and it would be nice if you could add those back to the game.

  • FIU47stuckey3 said February 26, 2009

I agree about what paldwin said, we should have assistant coaches who can develop players, and i think it would nice if u are able to do kind of what nba 2k9 did in which u can do drills to devolop player,I thnk we shuld be able to pick our own impact players and team captains o and make recruiting more realistic make it so that a team that went 4-8 cannot sign like a class of 18 4&5 Star players i also hope there will be some  type of -school transfer- addition with a moral scal or attraction scale

    other hopes include

-Create-a-team- with stadium, uniforms, and more

-Pre season , spring recruits game, and all american game

    -Pre game traditions-

    -and Create own playbook

  • deusmortuus said February 27, 2009

Sure, procedural awareness sounds cool, but the big question is whether that system actually makes the players play like real-life players or if we are just going to see the AI be more cheap about reading plays before they occur.  Namely, if they are watching the ball, do they start reacting when you press the button as opposed to after the ball is thrown?  Will the player really lack the awareness of where the ball is if they are paying attention to the receiver and then react as the receiver reacts?

  • agfootball4 said February 28, 2009

What it needs this year is towels, handwarmers, ankle braces, lip protecting mouthpeices, facemasks for DNA helmet and the new ION helmet and the new Riddell helmet for edit/create a player and the shoulder pads are too big and players arms look unrealistic, you dont really see veins popping out of everyones arms and their arms arent tht big.

Creating a team we should have nike, under armour, adidas logos etc.

Running out of tunnels and pregame warmups and season stats before the game would be cool.

Running out on the stadium during an upset or last minute win and louder crowd throught the game.

Pregame, Halftime, and postgame show or just quick recap.

    Heisman presentation.

The sports illustrated magazines on previous games was a cool feature during dynasty.

Overall more releastic gameplay and passing, and improved graphics

When it rains people shouldnt be able to make cuts or run patterns as well same with snow.

And what madden is doing with the defenders or whatever like for example if a defender has their back to the ball but just turn around a pick it off tht is unrealistic.

Quarterbacks should have different throwing motions atleast the bigtime qb's

    1-aa schools and stadiums.

I know this is a bit much but im just giving my opinion

  • qtip1223 said February 28, 2009

I agree with what every body is saying 100%. Game graphics look great there is just one thing that I think could be improved. Create-A-School needs to come back it was one of the best features that EA had in NCAA football.  Another thing make the people more realistic. I know your probably thinking like what are you talking about, but tell me in all of college football now you're portraying in the game that no body has hair and everybody has a shaved head. NO I don't think so you have all different hairstyles throughout college football that people rock, but yet the past 2 or 3 years you couldn't create somebody(that's supposed to look like you or anybody you create)they don't have hair. Honestly I think that's a bunch of bull. Next new gear does need to come into affect because there is no way that if your playing in a severely downpour game that none of the skill players would have towels to keep their gloves/hands dry to hold on to the ball. Quaterbacks need hand warmers new cleats because not everybody wears the same cleats around the college world. Also make the defense a lot better. Because I started a dynasty with Idaho(no disrespect to the fans of Idaho)but there is no way that they can beat Arizona like I did so work on that. Bring back the pregame warm ups and show them having their team specific entrances that they do. I.E. Notre Dame walking down the stairs slapping the plaque, Clemson walking down the hill into "Death Valley", Ohio State arms interlocked at the elbows, etc...One more thing. In Campus Legend I would like to see the players play more than one position if you make a DB,WR,HB,LB because I have yet to see one that the coaches didn't do all they could to get the balls in their hands. Also add in Campus Legend(after the state championship game) the Shrine bowl or the East and West games or even the Under Amour All American game to see how you match up with all the other incoming freshman.

  • NickyP05 said March 01, 2009

I strongly agree with some of the comments of a playoff format added to ncaa 10 as well as create a school instead of a legend. Creating your own team colors, stadium, uniforms, than playing as a legend because on 09 version, you couldn't pick the plays, you just ran what the cpu wanted. keep up the good work !!!

keep the online dynasty! it was awesome!

  • chindy23 said March 02, 2009

In NCAA '09, I LOVED the addition of online dynasties. Since NCAA 2005, I've religiously played Dynasty mode, building the worst teams into perennial powerhouses. I think it's a great feature, albeit easily exploitable (getting a few 99-speed guys usually does the trick...), but I digress.

Although I think the intentions behind NCAA '09's online dynasty idea were good, it wasn't utilized successfully. There were several SIGNIFICANT problems with dynasties in '09 that I will detail below, and that I hope will be fixed in 2010.

    1) INCORRECT RECORDS:

Multiple times in two different online dynasties I'm in, one of which I'm the commissioner, players received losses that should have been wins, and vice versa. In other words, even though they actually won their games, it registered as a loss on the EA Servers. Since in these dynasties we all play in the same conference, these mistakes affected our conference play, who went to the championship games, and recruiting. Our only solution was to just start over completely from the beginning of the season because no one wanted to keep losses they didn't deserve.

    2) BCS CONFERENCE INVITES:

Now, I don't know if this was a problem so much as it was just left out, but in offline dynasty mode, if you continually win with a sub-par team, you'll inevitably receive a BCS-conference invite. It's a great feature that provides incentives to keep winning. In ONLINE dynasty mode, however, I don't see that feature. Maybe no one in our dynasties has won enough (there HAVE been multiple teams with only 1 loss in 2+ seasons...), but I think if it's not already in the game, it should be added.

Now, that was it for dynasties, but I also wanted to address some things that I LOVED in NCAA 09 and hope stay in the game.

    1) NEW AUDIBLES:

The idea of quick audibles was awesome, and an excellent tool for fooling your opponent. Most people I played against had no idea what I was audibiling to, especially since all the plays were in the same formation. Excellent idea, and excellent execution. My only suggestion: maybe provide a few more quick audible options? Such as, instead of just PA Pass, Quick Pass, Deep Pass, Run, could you add further options? Like, Inside Run, Outside Run, Option, etc?

    2) OFFENSIVE LINE SHIFTS:

This was one of my favorite features and was really excited to see it return in 09. I really hope you guys keep it because it is vital, especially in those situations when you can see the linebacker lined up past your Tackle, and you KNOW there is no one to block him. The shifts solve this problem 90% of the time.

This is just my personal commentary, but I feel that most suggestions above are kind of silly. The ideas people stated above for the ultra-realism of passive elements of the game (crowd reactions, sideline reactions, handtowels, eye black....) would just slow down the functionality of the gameplay, the MOST important part. People say they want it, but in reality, would you rather sacrifice being able to read "253" on a player's eye black, or have shoddy gameplay lose you a game?

My suggestion: keep working on the gameplay, and focus on the shiny trinkets later. I see all kinds of technological improvements happening over in Madden 2010. Could some of the same advancements happen in NCAA? Possibly even just use the Madden engine? I don't know what your patent/copyright issues are since it's all the same company, but that seems to make the most sense.

Thanks a lot for giving us EA Sports fanatics a place to preach from, we appreciate it! :-D

  • franchiseboy20 said March 04, 2009

In dynasty mode, stats should mean more. It makes no sense to have a junior qb with an 82 overall rating win the heisman and only have +5 added to his rating the next year and eventually get left out when importing draft classes into madden. There should be a minimum player progression in place every offseason with the chance of increasing that min progression with performance from the previous season, spring practice, awards etc...

    1. Bring back create-a-school.

    2. Fix the change player stuff- every time I change players it doesn't go to the guy I wanted to go to. I moved from 07 to 09 and i like the change player on 07 better.

    3. After a 2 star team loses in the NC but beats 2 #1 teams, there should be more interested recruits the following year. I understand that is just the prestige that effects it but it should be changed to being effected by 'what have you done lately' also.

  • BoMajor said March 09, 2009

Have you considered the ability to import a previous Dynasty?

Medical redshirts in Dynasty mode would be a nice addition so that a badly injured player doesn't lose a full year of eligibility. NCAA rules seem applicable & programmable from the surface.

A Rivals-type presentation of recruits would be a nice touch. Maybe have a handful of brief highlights to watch of the top 5 recruits at each position to evaluate. I've always felt the recruiting aspect needed a little more attention to make it more interesting. Recruiting is a major part of college football.

Thank you for your time & consideration.

  • carter8152 said March 11, 2009

They need to add a pre game show. Having the commentators explain why they think a teams going to win, the key players to watch for, and the fan screaming behind or in front of the set. They should also show the players coming of of the locker room, onto the field the way they do in real life warming up on the field. They should also have an half time show that shows the high lights of the half and what the teams need to do to when the game in the 2nd half. And then they should have a post game show high light the players of the game and why the team the won, won. They should also add a BCS show at the end of the season showing teams are going to play eachother and whos playing in the national championship.

You should be able to give one player from offence and one player from the D the same number like Vidal Hazelton and Cary Harris who are both #7 and Spencer Vigoren and Gerald Washington who are both #81 from USC.

They should make rival games and championship games should be more heated. there should be a lot more trash talking and big hits. When UF and FSU play in real life there a lot of bad blood. They should add fan running on to the field after a big when of any sort. Because the national champinship as a sorry ending to it.

I also think the way players run needs to be fix. the way they skip sets is wack. and make the campus legend more acthnectic by add more realistic play calling, campus life and commentory.

In CL mode after your 4 yr. career is up you have the option to go to the nfl or stay to call plays for your team as the lowest paid coach and work your up to head coach.

  • georgia4lyfe said March 12, 2009

I love everyones comments. There are a few things that i would love to see also.

    1. Before the High school playoffs you get to choose 10 of your favorite schools that you would like to go to. After the first playoff game you would have to cut 3 schools fom the list now you have 7 schools to choose from. After Next round you get to cut 2 more schools now you have a top 5. If you make to the next round and win then you cut 2 more schools now you have your final 3 schools. After the championship game you have a conference  where you have 3 hats representing the 3 final school and you pick the hat you want to go to school at.

    2. Better play selection in CL. mode. If it's 3rd & 5 and I have a slow Qb. There is no way I'm calling a Qb draw so my slow Qb can get tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Also in CL. mode why doesn't the coaches ever challenge a fumble where you can clearly see the players knee is down.

    3. More penalties late hit out of bounds, excessive celebrations or even diving in the endzones. It happens in real football it should happen in the game.

    4. unnecessary use of time outs this pisses me off if I got like 2 min. to go and i'm about to score I'm trying to drain all the time i can so i can give them as little time i can but no my coach keeps calling time out. giving them alot of time to score when they get the ball back. Just some of the things i can think of.

  • lbg123 said March 13, 2009

I want to stadiums to be team specific, and detailed.  I like what was said about being able to upgrade your stadiums in dynasty play.

I think the pregame information is fun to hear and gives a better idea of the teams playing.

I'd like to see things progress as you become a better coach in dynasty mode, more coach information, where they have been, what teams are their biggest rivals, keeping a better tally of what you have specifically done in your dynasty.

Fix the coaching screen so when it shows your history it shows the correct trophies next to the season.  Right now if you don't win anything its blank but if you win the next year it fills in all the blanks with that same trophy.

Thanks this is the only game I play so keep making it better and doing your best.  I want to stress the importance of team specific stadiums for the lesser teams as much as the bigger teams.  Since the switch to xbox360 you have done generic stadiums and it has made me not want to play my home town team because it bothers me that its not the right stadium.

  • stew2557 said March 31, 2009

I have to agree with some points previously stated:

Campus Legend play-calling was suspect at best.  Too many play-action plays and doesnt emphasize best players.

    Mascot Game. Really?

How could you take Create-A-School out?  The greatest single feature ever.

Dynasty mode would also be cool if you could increase your stadium size.  If I have a small school and take them big time and go to a bigger conference, wouldnt it make sense to increase the amount of fans you can have at games to use home field advantage?

Also, in Dynasty mode, you should have coaching attributes.  If you are a first time coach, you should have to earn attributes to make a good coach.  It could be goal oriented or acquire points like NFL Head Coach 09.  It gives the user another goal to reach and adds more to play for besides routing the computer everygame.

    Just some thoughts...

  • SDS_Prod1gy said April 12, 2009

I'm an avid fan of this series and buy it almost every year. Sadly, it isn't the same quality of game as it has been in the past.

It may or may not be too late to change this stuff now, but here's my wishlist for NCAA Football 10

    1. Get rid of the mascot game--Just a waste of space and you couldn't even use every team on the game because some teams didn't have mascots.

    2. Pay attention to detail about every team in the game and add D-II teams--This probably will be the hardest thing to do, but believe it or not, not all of the people that buy your game are fans of BCS schools. Why hype up the addition of mascots in the game but not include mascots for every team? What irritated me the most was that although Freddy and Frieda Falcon (BGSU's mascots) were not included in "Go celebrate with the mascot" there was a pre-game write up about them! Also, the stadiums should be accurate for every single team that you put in the game. How hard can this honestly be? I know there are a lot of teams in college football, but how can you say it is a true NCAA Football game unless you don't have team-specific stadiums. For example, Doyt L. Perry stadium is not a bowl; it's like an oversized high school stadium with two open ends. Just because my team is a 2-star caliber school doesn't mean it's stadium should be excluded. Oh, and don't just add D-II teams with accurate stadiums and then ignore non-BCS conference teams' stadiums either. For years this has been the biggest problem I've had with the game and it is a simple fix. Every year some non-BCS team seems to make a big run (see Utah, 2008-2009) so why continue to ignore these teams?

    3. As many people have said, more options for customization--many different brands of cleats, gloves, helmets; also, include many different hairstyles, faces, ect. for customized players.

    4. Create a team should be included along with many options for stadiums, mascots, cities.

    5. As far as the actual gameplay; fix the offensive/defensive line problems, I'm sure you've heard of these before. Also, fix the problems with CB's and WR's; its the same thing with Madden so just do what they're doing. The graphics look great and the game speed is pretty accurate so good job there.

    6. Fix player progression and put some sort of potential rating attribute in place. If my 3-star RB has an 1,000 yard season as a freshman shouldn't he gain attribute points instead of minimal improvement? I know Madden is doing something like this with their Franchise mode. Maybe add in player development points where things you do on the field (such as winning) earns you points that you can use to increase a players attributes.

    7. If you're going to keep campus legend, please add more detail to it.

    8. In dynasty mode, allow customizable conference schedules. As somebody above mentioned, include coaches names and give them ratings as well.

Most of this stuff isn't even in-game related, which goes to show how good of a job you guys have done on the in-game aspect (although there are still problems with it). I just wish you would focus more on the little details of the game.

  • Prototype289 said April 26, 2009

My favorite NCAA team is Fresno State (even though they suck lol)

but on NCAA 09, I got onto the "Toughest Places to Play" list but Bulldog stadium has like half of other stadiums like Ohio States and Texas A&M's.

So i was hoping the EA could let us add seats or sections, and make them fully customizable not like in madden when you have like 6 choices.

but you add seats and you can see the difference while in games and you can hear the crowd get way louder then they did before.

To add seats maybe you have to ask the school to confirm the price of the seats and the better your team is and the more tickets you sell per game raise the chances of  adding seats gets accepted by whatever college your playing as?

I see many good suggestions; as an avid EA Sports College football game user since the first "Bill Walsh" game was introduced on Sega Genesis (and own every version for the various Sony Playstation consoles made since then), I can truly say I love the game. There's not near enough space or time to write about all the things you've done right (and I haven't loved every change you've made over the years), but I have no idea what it takes to write a computer program that becomes an amazing game, either (like you've done with incredible success). Here's a list of my favorite things in the games over the years, and my requests for change or improvements in future versions.

I never played with "Mascots"- and I figured that was added so husbands could tell their wives that they bought the game to share with their young kids.

Menu navigation in the depth chart should be simpler (more intuitive) and quicker... it's crucial in online games where time is limited to make changes. Also, being able to substitute different players into similar positions in different formations was a great feature. It is very realistic to be able to put your big physical CB or a Safety as your Nickel back without having to change the order of the DB's in the depth chart. I would really like to see that again. And if you could tie our position changes to our profile for online play, that would save a lot of time trying to edit our depth chart during an online game, and wouldn't have to affect, or be affected by, the physical ratings on the original rosters.

You should be able to move a player from one position to another without much of a "penalty" in their athletic ratings (just a moderate, realistic drop in awareness).

A big complaint of mine and most guys I know is the changing of the control functions from one version to the next. Why not make ALL the control buttons programmable by the user the way it was on the PC version? Making the AI adjustable and making realistic game play is great and the game can be challenging enough (when playing against the CPU) without having to re-learn crucial control functions like the pitch button or "turbo" button... let us program which button does what for EVERY move. In past games where you gave the option to use the default layout or "classic", I always chose classic because then I didn't have to re-learn THAT, too. With all the different plays and formations and other idiosyncrisies in the game that are new to be learned and with the different levels of game play, it isn't fun to have to re-program my old brain to keep from pitching when I am trying to juke, etc...

I agree with many about the obvious glitches in the current game, and I have faith in EA Sports that they will do their best to make the game realistic so your back doesn't run out of bounds 4 yds. behind the line of scrimmage on a swing pass when their is no defender within 20 yds. of him and he catches the ball 3 or 4 yds. inbounds.

Another real annoyance is having your RB juke right into a DT instead of accelerating through the huge hole the line has opened up for him EVERY TIME! Or on an option play, having your own players interfere with the play by spinning around , backing up or going the wrong way and not engaging a defender at all, when if they had just moved in a somewhat realistic way at all, the play would have been a huge success, and instead it's a big loss. THAT is not "in the game", so it shouldn't BE in the game.

Also, I like having no refs on the field... at least not among the defensive backs and receivers, as sometimes it interfered with the passing game. I do like seeing the refs and the 1st Down markers and "chain gang" on the sideline, tho... especially useful when considering a challenge of the spot of the ball on a crucial 3rd down call. I understand not being able to make a challenge after accessing the instant replay from the pause menu, but you should still be able to challenge the call when all you've done is hesitated long enough for the play-calling screen to come up (which it seems is necessary anyway). Just because  the CPU has already begun to show the "auto" replay shouldn't keep you from being able to challenge the play.

Being able to create your own plays was really cool, and one of my favorite features.

Other than obvious bugs and glitches, I think spending resources to make the players' experience as realistic as possible is a good thing. It is frustrating when the CPU "cheats" to win. I think there is enough adjustability in the AI and game play modes to make it as challenging (or easy) as any human could want it to be and still be like playing football from the vantage point that the user has. It isn't realistic for the CPU's defensive player to suddenly be able to leap higher than possible or accelerate faster than possible to intercept a pass, for example.

I look forward to "10" and though I don't think that the 2009 version was one of the best of the series because of the glitches and stuff, I believe that there are so many overall improvements and changes in the game, and so many new formats to program for, and with the added challenge of making the online gaming as functional as it is, and trying to keep everybody happy, I'm sure you have a monumental task ahead.

I do not envy you trying to put the roster together accurately, with all the late changes that teams experience with player's jersey numbers and position changes , not to mention variables in player's development and recovery from injuries, etc... I realize there's no way for you to please everyone. However, I noticed certain teams seemed to get "picked on" in the 2009 version of the rosters. It is not realistic to give such low ratings to some abilities of starting players (especially for perennial and traditional powerhouses) and even to the extent that their physical characteristics are out of proportion. No linemen that play for a top school should have a 99 stomach and 0 rear, chest, arms, legs, etc... I suggest spending some resources editing the roster to be as fair and realistic as possible. I know we can edit our own rosters for our game as we play them at home, but the online gameing is dependant on your roster, and fairness and realism is a BIG DEAL there.

Thank you for providing a fun and entertaining game and an opportunity to share our opinions on your efforts in this forum. I hope you consider your customers inputs and weigh the possible changes requested against the resources you have for making changes and fixing "issues" in the past games very carefully.

      Sincerely, KPsaHusker
