Round 2

33

Detroit Lions

Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech, DE

Johnson has Top 10 overall talent, but plays like a 5th rounder...Schwartz and Detroit loading up on the D-Line this draft.

34

Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest, CB

Perfect fit for the Pats depleted secondary...Smith hard-nosed against the run and great in zone coverage.

35

Alex Mack, California, C

Mack clearly the best Center prospect in draft, Rams get great value in early Round 2...Fills major need on STL O-Line.

36

Sean Smith, Utah, CB/FS

Soaring up draft boards late in the process, Smith can play both corner and safety for the Browns who need help everywhere.

37

William Beatty, Connecticut, OT

Great value here, Beatty could very easily go in Round 1...Seattle O-Line getting older, Walter Jones replacement in 2 years.

38

Larry English, Northern Illinois, DE

Bengals doing major reconstruction to defensive front...English can also play OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

39

Evander Hood, Missouri, DT

Hood a playmaking DT who can rush the passer, a great fit alongside John Henderson in Jacksonville.

40

Duke Robinson, Oklahoma, G

Solid O-Line pick here for Oakland...That's 2 for 2 this year for Al Davis as far as no brainer picks go...What is going on Al?

41

DJ Moore, Vanderbilt, CB

Brings much needed speed and quickness to Packers secondary...This pick should allow Charles Woodson to move to FS.

42

Donald Brown, UConn, RB

With Marshawn Lynch in trouble with the league, Bills waste no time getting a dependable #2 option with Donny Ballgame.

43

James Laurinaitis, Ohio State, ILB

Falls to the 2nd round after a mediocre showing in the draft workouts...Should be the perfect fit next to Patrick Willis for the next 10+ years in the Singletary 3-4.

44

Pat White, West Virginia, QB/WR

Parcells/Sparano get the Wildcat QB they were waiting for...White will also line up outside and catch passes for the Phins.

45

Troy Kropog, Tulane, T

Giants get much needed depth for their O-Line.  Kropog a nice, low downside type prospect that can play on either side.

46

Louis Delmas, Western Michigan, S

Texans finally spend a top pick on a safety...Delmas arguably the top safety prospect in the draft this year...Should start from Day 1.

47

Connor Barwin, Cincinatti, OLB

Patriots next big sack artist...Former Tight End Barwin notched 11 sacks in 2008 in his first year as a full-time defender.

48

Jarron Gilbert, San Jose State, DE/DT

Enough athleticism to jump out of a pool from a dead stand, Gilbert a great fit as a DE in the new Broncos 3-4.

49

Coye Francis, San Jose State, CB

Bears add a versatile athlete to thin secondary...Francis should start out as a CB, but could also be moved to FS.

50

LeSean McCoy, Pittsburgh, RB

Gives Browns some nice slash and dash to go with the power of Jamal Lewis.

51

Patrick Chung, Oregon, S

P-Chung is a great replacement for Roy Williams...He also hits hard and is great against the run.

52

Ron Brace, Boston College, DT

Brace a huge presence inside at 6'3'', 330lbs...A great fit at nose tackle in Rex Ryan's new 3-4 Jets defense.

53

Phil Loadholt, Oklahoma, T

With Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan no longer in town, Eagles have a huge need at Tackle....Loadholt as big as they come at 6'7'', 340lbs.

54

William Moore, Missouri, S

After losing Darren Sharper to the Saints, Moore should be a great value pick for the Vikes here in late round 2.

55

Paul Kruger, Utah, DE

Jamaal Anderson is pretty much a bust at this point after 2 sacks in 2 seasons, Kruger should take over at DE by mid-season.

56

Victor Harris, Virginia Tech, CB

Macho Harris ran much better at his Pro Day to alleviate concerns about a lack of speed.

57

James Casey, Rice, TE

Chris Cooley type H-back, Casey will be lining up all over the place for OC Cam Cameron in '09...Todd Heap who?

58

Rhett Bomar, Sam Houston State, QB

Can learn from Brady for 3 years (like Cassel) and then get flipped for a draft pick (like Cassel)...Bomar has a big arm and was a huge college prospect at one time.

59

Laurence Sidbury, Richmond, DE

Ran a 4.64 at the Combine...Possible Julius Peppers replacement if the Panthers end up trading him.

60

Darry Beckwith, LSU, ILB

Beckwith a big time hitter...should be able to replace Antonio Pierce at MLB by 2010.

61

Sen'Derrick Marks, Auburn, DT

Colts have major gaps on the defensive line...Marks a great fit because of his pass rush skills at the DT position.

62

Chris Baker, Hampton, DT

Losing Albert Haynesworth will hurt the Titans, but not with a wide body like Chris Baker on board....Huge upside, but raw.

63

Gerald McRath, Southern Miss, OLB

McRath very productive player at So Miss, immediate special teams contributor for Cards in 09...Starter at OLB in '10 (when Dansby leaves).

64

Eric Wood, Louisville, C

Almost went with Alex Mack in Round 1, but instead get Wood in late round 2 with almost the same type of upside.

Never had the desire to play a franchise past the first year because i have absolutely no idea how to handle the off season, but i might give it a try this year.I dont know what a franchise tag is or anything about drafting...etc,but this post makes it look interesting.Good job ea!You guys might have turned a strict in-game only player into a part time franchise player. This off-season stuff i dont know about seems like a job for GOOGLE!;-)

  • warrior310 said April 05, 2009

clwalton the offseason is very easy you just have to make the right moves financally for your franchise and sign the right players. franchise tag is when you sign a player(s) for a year and drafting is when you get rookies to fill your team's needs.

The Dolphins aren't stupid enough to take a wide receiver like White in the second round. His heart isn't in the position, meaning he's just another Eric Crouch.

You, like everyone else, seems to be overrating the wildcat. It's one formation the Dolphins run and it didn't have very little success the second half of the season. It's truly not that big a deal and not a big aspect of Miami's offense.

The second round is way too high for White and Parcells isn't stupid enough to do that.

    alrighty thanks clwalton21...
