  On the faceoffs, you said centers will take faceoffs instead of wingers in 4 on 4 sitiations.  Does that mean the highest attributed faceoff winger will take the faceoff in abscense of the center?

  Great info.

  But i would be more interested in what has been done to your AI teammates when playing offline. Do defenders still get stuck behind the net and don't move if they are to fatigued? Does the Center in the behind the net strategy try and go thru the net to get behind it and ends up standing still in the goal-crease? Do you CPU teammates stand completely still a never try and help out the human player to try and keep the puck in the zone?.

  Before I critique your game, I just want to say that pre-NHL 08, I was a '2k' guy. I played the EA Sports game once, and the next day sold 2k and bought 08. 09 Is the best hockey game of all time!

  One thing I have noticed is that when you are playing against the computer (in any game mode) and you or the computer has the puck in the offensive zone, every skater on the ice (except the puck carrier and the man defending him) is just standing still. I understand you can create plays, but unless you are running that play (which for some reason doesn't always engage) the skaters are more or less just standing still beside their opponent. This is excrutiating especially during the Be A Pro Mode.

  Another thing is in Dynasty Mode, it would be great if they had more in game stats(after a whistle). For example, a team's specialty teams percentage/rank, more indivdual stats for players (rather than telling me 20 times a game that Tim Thomas is 5'10, 350 lbs... or what ever he weighs. haha

  I think you should be able to put out any line for forwards and defenseman. I understand it may be complicated when it comes to 4 and 3 skaters on the ice. So rather than just being able to edit 2 lines for; power play, penalty kill, 4 man PP, 3 man PK, you can edit up to 4 lines for each situation.

  Other than that, it is an amazing game. I can't wait for '10!

  I would love to see the feature where you can actually get off the ice (change with an AI) in EASHL or OTP instead of having to pause the game as soon as the phone rings or the kids wake up or whatever reason. That would be great!

  Great work EA. One thing I really would like for you to add, that shouldn't be too much trouble, is to be able to use the broadcast camera in Pro mode. Haven't played the game for a while but I think it's called broadcast, it's the one from the side. Personally I love to play with that cam and it makes me sad that the BAP modes doesn't let me.

  Love the news on the passing, I always hated how arcady it is. Hopefully you moved it over to the analogue stick while holding down a trigger or something.

  One exploit I would really like to see fixed is the pass across the crease. A goalie that is trained to stop shots at 90 mph should have the reflexes to deflect/intercept nearly all the passes that goes near him. My online team always gets beaten by one-timers because the goalie didn't move and since none of us plays goalie (or defense), there's very little we can do to fix this problem on our own.

  Im playing be-a-pro right now and im so annoyed that my teammates dont help me out at all. On the pk im the only one blocking shots and on the pp Im the only one doing anything same playing 5 on 5. I always get poke checked too and ALL of my passes are intercepted because of my teammates terrible positioning.

  so far it all sounds good to me. but how is fighting going to be handled if you are playing against a bud on the same system? hope they give you enough time in post whistle play and you have to skate to the bench for a change and to the faceoff. some things i would like to see are--better ice, why can't they make the ice where you can see everyones ice scrapes, snow sprays, and skate trails on it through the whole period and it stays there--have all the reffs on the ice not just one, that is something that really bugs me after all this time they only show one reff at all times, just seems stupid to me--manual control over my own shot deflections--more deke options, don't know about anyone else but the one handed dekes in 09 are worthless, i tried it once or twice and that was it--would like to see broken sticks by taking a shot or from a slash and have to press a button to drop the broken stick--double minors and major penalties, like 4 minutes for a high stick that draws blood--more sliders in the options, would like to individually adjust every penalty there is--better calling for penalties, way too often phantom penalties are called, interference penalties that go uncalled way too often--need to be able to interfere with goalies--hit detection for your player moving around the net needs to be way better, it's like there is an invisible wall near the net that i get stuck on--checking still needs to be better, there is something wrong when i line someone up from across the ice and hit the guy from full speed then the player who i hit should get flattened not just my player bouncing off of him and he goes on like nothing happened, just look at kunitz for the pens and can see that you don't need to be big to check someone--i'm sure i will think of more things after this lol. i just would like to see all the little things to be in the best hockey game around. who knows, maybe the 2k series will be good this year...yea right lmao..well at least they have all the refs on the ice!

  Jeff Carter of the Philadelphia Flyers deserves to be on the cover this year. He stepped up in so many ways and came in second in the NHL in goals. PUT JEFF CARTER ON THE COVER EA SPORTS!!! (or Patrick Kane)

  Put custimizable stick tape, like a couple options. Put heel to toe - short, mid, and long and the regular like in the past.

  I don't know how much you guys actually read what we post here, but I'm hoping you do. If there is another feature I desperately want to see improved, that is referee's. Please improve them, so that there are 4, you see them do the signals in the game, for instance when it is offside or signaling when it safely entered the zone. Especially when a team gets a goal and the referee starts to extend his arm at the net to signal a goal. You talk about being realistic this year and doing the little things, please do another little thing for a huge hockey fan. Thanks.

  I'd also like to say the goal-line goal should be removed too..

  Something you should bring back is the Fantasy draft in Dynasty mode. I really miss that.

  Customizable jerseys and facial features for EASHL/Be-a-pro would perfect!

  And when it comes to the replays, I think there should be something done with that. I think you spend a majority of the time watching replays then actually playing when your online.. Maybe put in a system that when the majority of the players in the game hit to skip them, then the replays should just stop and the game should begin again.. ( i.e : 6 players in a game, 4 of them press to skip the replay, then the majority wants to skip it and it should be done. But if 3-6 players dont skip, then obviously something marvelous must have happend.)

  And you should also look into adding a vast selection of sticks and goalie gear. Maybe even adding in not wearing a helmet during OTP and be-a-pro. Like in the old days. And old-timers gloves and skates. Give the game a all-time NHL type feeling.

  looks like you guys are fixing alot of bugs. please be sure to address the delayed penalty rule. everytime theres a delayed penalty the penalized team can just randomly skate around and do whatever they want. please make double penalties a possibility

  GJ guys keep working like that. I am a big fan of NHL but personnely what I really dont like about this game(exept for certain "glitch") is that when you are in the offensive zone and you are controlling the puck, the other players on your team DONT move they just stay where they are. I want to see them moving to create good play! I try all the strategi but they are always stuck!

  A big fix i would love is to bring back the message when you score, which displays; scorer, assiters, goals that game and more

  It was in 07 but to see it in 09 you have to wait for 4 replays to finish and then it comes up rather than just after you score

  I like it because it really allows you to get to know your players/scorers if your playing dynasty mode etc. with a team you don't know much about, especially for people who may not know so much about all of the hockey teams.

  I would also love it if you could actually play from broadcast camera as easily as it is to play from ice or the default view. Simply because i love the look when you watch hockey on TV and it looks great when you see amazing plays unfold in that view.

  Please stop hindering us for ranked online matches!!!  These are all great additions and fixes but please fix the online defaults!  I am sooooo sick of playing medium speed for ranked matches - what is that all about anyway?  Hockey is a fast sport that uses hand eye, speed, and quick decisions.  If you have to make the ranked online a default speed for 2010 PLEASE MAKE IT FAST!!!!  Now if we could only save our strategies (offensice, denensive, powerplay, etc) once we change them while playing an online game. It is very frustrating to have to change on the fly all the time because the settings change.   Please take off the assistant coach edit lines option for ranked games as well.  I am assuming this is the reason for the continual change.  Once again, not catering to the good players (most of the people that play online) but catering to beginners.  NHL 09 is always the best game of the year - step up the setting levels and show it off for a change!!!!   If anyone knows a way to solve my problem I am all ears!

  Plus the black box that counts our shots/hits never goes away and you cannot ever see defensive strategy!

  I know you want everyone to do the team play/be a pro for online but the reality is that it has always been about versus hockey all the way back since its creation after the success of Nintendos Ice Hockey.  Why play on a team of 6 pple that dont pass or play hockey right when I can play where I control every player for my team on the ice?  Seems like a no brainer to me.  Plus add in that at least 3 pple get disconnected or get sick of waiting for everyone to push x between whistles that an online game can take 45 minutes!!  Not cool EA. Please, please, please understand that and focus a little more on the online versus settings, gameplay, speed, etc.  There are so many settings that should not just be cookie cuttered in under ranked and unranked.  Shoot, you could have an online room for every level and every speed/settings option out there.  (Please give me a fast speed ranked option and I will never complain again!!!)

  Thank you guys! Can't wait for 2010!! (Hopefully Mr.Overrated/King no show in the playoffs, Marion Gaborik, will be reflected as such in his player attributes also!)

  I agree with everone else on the Fantasy Draft.  It would be nice to have again but I think it would be even better to have possibly some Classic/Hall of Fame/Olympic/or past All Star Teams.  At the very least have one All Time Team for every team in the league.  I know I am getting picky but the Wild need to have the option of playing as the North Stars.  If you had classic teams you could have the great Mont, Edm, Tor, Pit, NYI, Det, Cal, and Van teams while also bringing back MN North Stars, Quebec Nordics, Hartford Whales, and Winnepeg Jets to the fans in those areas that still love them.   Please bring them back and not as an unlockable.

  I have my own suggestions on what to do to fix the goaltending.

  First, the goalies need to ALLOW SOME DAMN REBOUNDS. Seriously, I mean REAL rebounds. I'm talking about shots that bounce off the goalie's leg pads as far out to the faceoff circle here. It's simply not believable that a 90+ mph slap shot ALWAYS rebounds no further than just outside the crease.

  Second, the goaltenders need to stop defying the laws of physics. For example, when I'm closing in during a breakaway, I be sure to deke to get the goalie to commit to one direction while I deke to the other. The problem is, once the goalie begins the animation of moving in the initial direction, his momentum inexplicably changes to follow the puck once I deke in a different direction, even though there was no animation of him pushing off with his other leg (not to mention he is on ICE). To see him do this from his knees/ass is a major annoyance.

  For goalies you should make animations that fit each individual goalie. Especially Tim Thomas. You should have more defined animations for stand-up and butterfly goalies, But give each goalie their own special characteristics. Every goalie has their own style and that should show in your game.

  Wow. What a waste. I hope that what he meant by 'new passing' is that (1) the player you are passing to won't FREEZE UP! and (2) the player that passed will no longer throw a poke-check out after the pass, resulting in a tripping call.

  I can deal with the tripping penalties, but come on - players locking up on the ice? My Pong bar never froze on screen - what's wrong with my skater?

  It sounds more like EA is, yet again, blowing off a previous years' game in favor of releasing another $60 disc that should have been patches for the title we already own.

  How about spending some time playing it before pushing it out the door, better yet - don't hire 'know-nothing' testers, get it out to people who love nothing more than playing Hockey games.

  If it weren't for the NHL 2k series being utter crap, EA may spend more time and effort on their titles - but as it stands, EA monopolizes the sport, giving them full control of what they do and don't do for the fans and consumers(READ: Madden).

  Well, I've been pretty serious throughout this post, so here's some sarcasm: oooOOOOooo, aggression sliders, work hard on those? Maybe spent the morning splitting the statistics code, got some lunch, came back and assigned the slider values to adjust player tendencies, ended the day with a game of foosball and a high-five? Thank you so very, very much.

  Back to the seriousness. You're sliders are worthless. All of them. AI learning is a joke, you can zero it out and the opposing team still dominates: perfect poke-checks, harder hits, swarm defense, better acceleration, the works. Fatigue and recovery: bullocks. Goalie passing, why have it if it does nothing?

  I would gladly pay $60 for you to cancel NHL 2010 to take the year to FINALLY put out a decent hockey game. NHL 2011 is going to be the same story if you don't, "Well we've fixed all of the things you've been asking for in 2010... We'll take another $60, now."

  Lastly, I can't believe you ended showing us new goalie pads. Well, La-dee-DA! Our goalies are gonna look so pretty, and the players' new jerseys will SURELY fix all the gameplay errors our games face... brilliant use of time and resources.

  To be fair, the fans are partially to blame. The fact that anyone responded to the Presentation thread in the forums is ludicrous. Yeah, hats and squid should be thrown on the ice at the appropriate times, but who cares about team intros? It should, first and foremost, be about the gameplay, the game-play! Time spent on other junk detracts from the CORE of the game, meaning more whinnying about bad passing, player-lock-ups and (I guessing) CUSTOMIZABLE CONTROLS, in this year's NHL entry.

  One thing i would like to do is to fight with my team more then 3 times in a game!

  in the other NHL games there was a stop after 3 fights and i hate that, but i hope i can do it in NHL10 now when its going to be much better fighting system!

  Goalie pads, fighting, intros, broken sticks, visors, etc... WHO GIVES A CRAP!!...WORRY ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY, SETTINGS, AND ONLINE OPTIONS!!!!..While I put the puck in the net and win the game-boy genius above me in the previous post will be happy cus its time to fight..WTF?...We live in a world full of new technology and all you designers/developers do is spend their day trying to make a guy LOOK like the real person, move exactly like them, and make sure there is fighting in the game. You want fighting get Fight Night 4!!!!EA Sports, please use the technology to make the best gameplay and new features to dominate the online gaming market with options, modes, playability.  XBOX has best graphics out there and they SUCK, the Wii has best gameplay but worst graphics and they are dominating. PS3 (EAS's biggest market) is right in middle - why go toward graphics XBOX side when it is proven the public wants GAMEPLAY!!! You decide EA Sports NHL dev team..We know which way your bosses chose (Wii-Grand Slam Tennis, Tiger 10) hopefully you get the hint before you find yourself without a job...Don't screw up and lose hockey like you did baseball!!!!!

  I like how you comment on most of the glitches...this means a lot. Thank god that you guys are aware of them. Another thing that you should add to the gameplay is better crowd reactions for the playoff's. Make it louder....make the crowd takes gasps as a close opportunity is missed....make it exciting! I also heard there are scrums after the whistles...this is awesome!! Finally you can make a rivalry out of any game...good call on this aspect EA!

  another idea; could training/practice mode actually increse your characters progression even if slightly?

  i.e practicing speed drills increase speed + acceleration and practicing 3 on 1's increases team work or something

  three things i beg you for

  (1) bring back playoff mode.. im sure its a minor thing to do

  (2) Change the game atmosphere for the playoffs… regular season is fine but once you get in the playoffs have crowds louder more chants … look at nhl hits for the ps2 back in the day when you made the play offs they had the playoff towels going and the sea of white in pittsburg or sea of red in calgary and washington or orange in philly!!! little thigns like that enhance the game so much more

  (3) goal horns try to listen to each building and make them idential tone and length … example 09 detroits horn is acurate but its just one short honk then its over when in reality they hit it 3 times

  little things like this make a huge difference and everyone will love it

  This has not happened to me until a couple weeks ago, but Ill be just spanking someone online like 5 nothing and then the screen will pause with the all too familiar waiting for opponent bar (if another one of you ba*^ards makes me watch every replay, ill kill ya)  and them boom "you have lost connection to your opponent." I have checked all my connections and have setup the router properly but its still happening. Is there a way to reward the person who is winning and has lost connection but has not quit or pulled the plug on the xbox?  might not work.  couple more things

  - upgrade the puck handling, between the legs, off the skate, I don't want to have to play 2k sports crap to get that stuff

  - PLEASE OH PLEASE  make a 2 player online game quick ranked match room, or 3 player or even 2,3,4.  When im playing with my fiends sometimes we want 2-4 player ranked matches.  teach your be a pro tricks, make your own tricks.

  - I guess I haven't noticed if this has been done, but have you taken light readings from the different arenas, I have been to a lot of them and each one is different, a little darker in some lighter in others. Might give a cool edge to each arena.

  - More historical teams, 83-84 oilers?  Mario? Gretzky?  time warp expansion pack? NHL Legends 2010 go back to the hay day of the legends and play a season.

  - ALL STAR skills competition?  Winter Classic?

  First I just want to say the EA team does an excellent job every year.  The custom audio feature in 09 was my favorite feature in any game I have ever played with that and the new features concerning the crown in NHL 10 you can really get the right atmosphere while playing Ok on to the 2 main improvments id love to see this year.  But first PLEASE PUT ZACH PARISE ON THE BOX COVER!!!! He is probably the hardest working player in the NHL he deserves the recognition.

  1. PLEASE!!!!!!! Get Mike "Doc" Emrick to do the commentating the partner doesnt matter just as long as Doc is the commentator.  He does all the big games the winter classic nationally televised games the all-star game and not to mention the playoffs and Stanley Cup finals.  He took Gary Thornes place in real life som why not in NHL 10 He is also a HALL OF FAMER!

  2.Minor detail and easy fix when a goal is scored the 5 players on the ice should celebrate together with a hug and pats on the head hockey is a team game in the real NHL not just the players who got points being the goal scorer and one or two guys who got assists are the only ones who celebrate.  And for big goals like game tying goals late in the game have the players jump on each other and have it look like it was a huge goal.   Mainly though have all the players on the ice except the goalie congratulating the goal scorer im sure the crowd is already fixed to cheer alot louder when a goal is scored.  Thank you very much for your time and hope to see these improvements added.

  How freakin hard would it be for you to put some NCAA teams in the NHL series.  I've given up hope that there will ever be a NCAA Hockey game so this is how you can please those fans.  Its obviously not hard to add more leagues since nhl 09 has about 20 of them, which by the way nobody cares about half of them.  Throw in D1 NCAA hockey and incorporate it with be a pro mode.

  Glad to hear so many fixes are being worked on. In case I missed it somewhere, please make the controls (down-screen) work the same way that they did in NHL '08 (or at least make it an available option).

  Something went wrong in '09 and it was never properly patched. When I skate down screen, I want to aim "up" on the analog to shoot high (same as in NHL 95).

  I play a lot of vs offline against friends and the battle became more about who got to go up for 2 of the 3 periods more than the game itself. i'm not sure what happened from previous versions of the game to last years but what was up with the control scheme when going down? if you're not sure what i'm talking about play a game of '07 or '08 while going down and your controls set to always up, then play a game of '09 going down with controls set to always up. what is going on there?!? up is down for aiming and down is up, then if you set your controls to "camera relative" left becomes right and right becomes left, how did this slip by in development that no one said "hey this is incredibly uncomfortable and doesnt make sense"

  1st the new nhl game needs to make the goal horns for each team more realistic and have the same after celebrations like in each arena.  The aspect of the individuality for each team is very important, for example the ducks and the sharks have the same goal horn.  That is not ok.   I'm looking forward to the passing improvements the most. I think it'll allow me to set up more scoring plays.

  Is there any chance you can implement a system that puts a marker over who you are currently aiming the pass at? Because my biggest issue is when two players are nearby and the pass goes to the wrong one.

  Also, making the CPU on my team not be as retarded in BAP... there's a reaosn I score 75% of the goals. It's the only way to win.

  I'm not sure how possible something like this might be, but I'd like to see stick collisions.  Often times you would get a player who would take a shot and his stick would pass through a player directly in front of him.  So when the computer would be on one of it's oh-so-common "gonna score modes" it wouldn't matter how tight you were playing defense because they're shots would just pass through you (they have angles like I've never seen)

  If a player is to get a good shot on net he should have enough space to get a proper follow-through on the shot. Nothing is more frustrating than playing solid tight defense only to have a shot get drilled top speed and go top corner from a player that you were practically smothering. This would also help turnovers, because too many times you could get a computer player using the "puck retention" ability and just skate through your entire team.  I understand you want to make the game harder but that's just ridiculous. If it were possible to have physics-based stick collisions (on the boards, against a player, side of the net etc.) it could really keep players from being super players.

  That being said please take out the "computer is gonna score" mode.  It's way too obvious to see the bounces and deflections that defy your real physics and land directly on the computers stick, and it takes you out of the game entirely sometimes.

  Oh one more thing too.. minor but one of my favorites from way back in the day.  I'd love to see some between period highlights from games around the league.  Seriously that was done up to NHL 93 and then it just vanished. I know they'd be simulated plays but who cares... it makes you feel like there's a league going on around you.. not just a large data simulation.

  A definite fix that needs to happen I think is ICON player changing and maybe even passing if it can be implemented.  One of the most annoying things especially when playing co-op with a friend was trying to change your players, they would never give you the player that was coming up on the rush with you until the very last minute when it was too late to set up... or even trying to set up a break out pass was near impossible.

  Please implement a new way of changing players,  It felt like you were trying to keep people from doing certain plays, and I'd like to have full control over who I was changing my player to.

  oh snap, and make a broadcast camera that actually looks like you're watching it on T.V. (Camera should be stationary in the middle and swivels from left to right.) The broadcast camera you have right now currently pans from left to right, not quite an actual broadcast view.  Maybe you've tried that and people found it hard to play from, but I would at least like it as an option.

  Hey Rammer, I have one very little suggest that I think a lot of people would like. This would especially help in BEAPRO or even just playing with my friends online or something. WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SPREAD OUR LEGS to avoid offside calls, it would speed the game up and its realistic. An easy way to put this into controls is pull left on the left analog and right on the right analog. TADA!!! What you think?

  The new adjustments sound good and there gonna make the game even better, but something that bugs me is when you have your created player there is a lack of equipment you can use. When creating a goalie there is a ton of different pads, but for players they forgot all about the nike bauer 4 rolls gloves and the nike bauer 8500 helmet, I would just like to have more of a selection on my gear.

  Also i'm on my third season on my be a pro and every year in the playoffs its the same opening entrance to the game as it is in the regular season, I just wish they could make it seam like more of a playoff atmosphere, maybe they could make it look like i\all the fans were given towels to wave. Also there is the same celebration after every playoff series except the finals, I want to feel the emotion of the playoofs when I am in the game, but other than that 09 is the best game ive ever played and i can't wait till 2010

  It may seem like a minor thing, but the AI never ices the puck.  This is a strategic part of the game that's been missing the last two years.  Sometimes when a human player gets a good forecheck going, the CPU will certainly dump the puck out, but they always use a perfect flip dump that gets the puck in the neutral zone.  A more realistic approach would be to have this tied perhaps to a defenseman's puck control, def. awareness, and poise, in terms of how he clears the puck, as well as player type.  Low awareness players with little poise should have a bit more of a "panic" reaction, slamming the puck down the ice, or even once in a while taking a delay of game penalty.  Poised players with better puck control should be able to loft the puck out with better control, without icing the puck.  

  Also, please address puck control and loose pucks more realistically.  On a dump in, the first guy in, usually the D-man, can never grab the puck without reaching for it several times in some instances, while the forechecker can just come in and it's glued to his stick.  The reaching animation should be there for both players, not just the defender, and there are many time where it feels like the forechecker doesn't even reach for the puck.  Also, loose pucks are not prevalent enough in this game.  Pucks are not easy to control...they take all sorts of strange hops on the ice, and this should be represented better in the game.  Pucks should kick off of sticks and skates sometimes; hard passes should be hard to settle down.  Perfect plays are just that, and they're rare to see in hockey.  I hope they're a lot more rare in NHL 10, because it's far too easy in NHL 09.

  One more thing I forgot...please remove the "locking" of body checks.  It should be done like the passing is going to be, and it should require skill and timing to line a guy up.  The way it is in NHL 09, you just flick the stick and it automatically steers toward a player.  Sometimes the risk of taking a run at a player is that when you miss, you're out of the play.

  Yes everyone is talking about club practice and setting up clubs in a practice area as opposed to going into a dressing room.  From all the guys I have played online with and playing almost 2500 online club games and OTP we all WANT PRACTICE RINKS instead of lobbies for clubs!  PRACTICE RINKS help us out EA  any news on this any chance on this.  I know the 09 forums are littered with talk about this as the MUST have feature for 10.  Let us know anything if you can!

  Support for practice rinks again, or at least a practice mode. Or if you managed to do it: A create a play mode where your buddies could be skating as other players, and when you press record, it records all movements of all skaters as you skate, and even possibly a recording of passes. As with some of the created plays, I'd like to have worked the puck around a little more, but it was tough when you only had the lines to follow.

  Another thing I'd like to see, would be for your EASHL team, instead of getting assigned a random AI to fill an empty position, if there was a list of AI players you could choose from to fill the respective gaps. If you wanted to have a sniper as a wing, you could put him there and let him pot a goal once in a while. Or if you wanted to assign a checker there, and have him shadow the best player on the other team, that could be an option. You could even have the option of picking the quality of who you want where, as if managing an actual team. If you have a team of 3, and you have three AI choices, you could pick one with high attributes, one with medium, one with low. So you could have an excellent defensive defenseman, an average playmaker, and a weak enforcer. So on and so forth, it would let to get you to know your team, (AI and all) a bit more, and have it feel like a team.

  Speaking of checkers and enforcers, it was really aggravating to be a grinder and have your guy instantly assumed as a goon. I'd like to see a checker and enforcer types of players, instead of a single grinder. Nobody chose being a grinder, because you were too slow. But if there was a checker, who didn't actually have strong hitting, but he had fast speed so he could keep up with the fastest players on the other team (IE: Rob Niedermayer, Ryan Kesler, Todd Marchant, etc.), it would make it more fun to be that defensive forward without being a slug. On the other hand, if you just wanted to be the tough guy (the Zach Stortini/Donald Brashear/Darcy Hordichuck) type player, you could sacrifice a little speed to scare the crap out of the other team.

  And finally, please tell me you guys have noticed the slap-passing in NHL 09, [Xbox 360] (in which you wind up a slap-shot, hold down the RB and follow through), and you have a guy standing in front tip it in. Sounds clean, except the slap-passes are being fired from the corners of the rink and tapped in. It's a fun play, but definitely a little too effective, as it can work 100% of the time if the player's in the right spot.

  It would also be nice if you could play a screen the goalie/shots from the point game without getting knocked out [i]every[/i] time by the AI defense you go into the slot.

  And since it just hit me, it would be neat to have an attribute which helps your player draw penalties. The higher it is, if your player gets absolutely rocked, the ref's gonna call it, but on the flip-side every once in a while you'd get called for an embellishment penalty.

  Oh, another HUGE thing in my opinion, if me and my friend both have Xbox Live gold accounts, two controllers, one Xbox 360, we both can't play on our club together. You have to have your own Xbox 360, which is really obnoxious when it comes to getting a few friends over, having them recover their accounts on the hard-drive, making a club, and staying up all night gaming. Gaming is a thing meant to be shared, and there's no 'co-op' experience in NHL 09 except for really the dynasty. Which gets old.

  -Cross Crease pass.

  Stupid play, especially since the goalie doesn't attempt to deflect the puck and then ends up so far out of position.  One Timers are not 100% goals all the time.  Needs to be changed.

  -Toe Flip shot

  Most retarded play in the game.  The players that have this shot down are unstoppable.  I am not as hard core as some players are at like 7000 team games played.  Part of the reason for this is the fact there is a guaranteed shot for goal too.  Eliminate these to plays I mentioned and make this more like hockey with more realistic scoring instead of always goals.  

  -Computer AI

  When in team play and playing without a full squad, the AI for the CPU players needs to be ramped up.  Having the puck pass inside the reach of their stick without attempts to get it is ridiculous.  Having them watch these cross crease passes go between them and the goalie with no attempt to stop them is ridiculous.

  -Create a Player

  I feel that there are also glitches per say in this area as well.  I have a guy that is 6'1 195.  I have done everything I can to make him as solid as I can. There are guys out there that make these little midgets that skate 70 mph and mow down anything in their path.  To me that isn't realistic at all.  Like mention about the "house" sized goalies, I would like to see more advantages and disadvantages for players sizes.  Played a team the other night and I am not sure any of them were over 5'6" 150lbs.  and the screamed all over the ice and checked our team into oblivion.  I know that ain't realistic at all.  

  -Penalties

  Need to be reworked somehow.  Tripping is far to prevalent. Some games you can get absolutely destroyed away from the puck with no calls, tripped away from the puck with no calls, etc..  then some games you look at a guy and its a penalty, weird.  

  -Passing

  When passing, sometimes the puck is intercepted by another player on your team that it wasn't intended for.  Especially when attempting to get it in down low.  Maybe have a button option to select the guy you want to pass it too like in the old school days.  Especially useful when players are in the same vicinity but moving in different directions.  Causes all sorts of problems.

  -sandbagging or cherry pickers.

  Guys that hang out at their blue line all game long while we are working in the zone irritate me as well.  it would seem to me that a 5 on 3 would be far more advantageous than it really is in the game right now.  Its frustrating to work the puck around the zone and 3 guys mauling the puck handler.  Thats not realistic.  Typically the puck gets jarred loose and the sand baggers profit.  That really needs to adjusted.  While cherry picking does exists in real hockey, its no where near the success rate that these guys thrive on in games.  

  I could go on with minor tweaks.  I am more interested in the major tweaks.  As a player on a team that averages 5 goals a game that are slap shots, wristers and legit one timers, I am more interested to see if the always goals are fixed.  My team has never taken a glitch shot and if a players does or did, they got booted.  I am really hoping EA Sports comes through and gives the upper hand back to the guys that work hard and play legit day in and day out.  Guys that benefit from exploiting the game ruin the whole experience for me.  When a team shoots the same two shots all game long, no matter what side they are shooting from, its really irritating.  I just wish you at EA would do something about 09' as far as these glitch goals go.  Its a long time until your new version comes out.  Unlikely, but hoping never hurts.  

  In the end, please do whatever it takes to give the power back to the straight players.  Get rid of the video game junkies that create midgets that race up and down the ice like thoroughbreds taking the same shot over and over and over again.  I am more interested in playing hockey, not interested in finding ways to exploit the system.  Lets hope they get closer to doing that with 2010.

  I love everything you guys are doing.  It's great to have a truely authentic hockey game out there.  All the other EA's strive for realism, I glad you guys do the same.  I just want to know why don't you guys put the stanley cup playoffs and stanley cup finals logo's on the ice?  Seems so easy to do and many hardcore gamers of dynasty and be a pro will tell you it feels great to play a whole season and then get there and see visually that the games are not just another regular season game. Is there anyway that this can be put into the game or patched if its not in already?

  Here is an option im bothered about in the game. Whenever I want to play a two on two online first of all it takes over a min to get anyone in the lobby but what's more frustrating is that there should be a lock options where the custom game can lock players only to be abled to play 2 on one side and two on the other. I understand people want to sometimes play 3-1 but there should be an option in the create a game to lock out people when the creator wants to play only 2 vs. 2. This can also be an option for 3 vs. 3 and 4 vs. 4.

  I think you should increase the size of the zones a little bit. I also think goalies should be letting up more goals from the point like in real hockey, and there should be more goals from slapshots. Goalies shouldnt be able to stop as many shots from the slot, and its really unrealistic when goalies get into the zone and stops all pucks. Goalies should also loose their mental sharpness sometimes after giving up an easy goal.

  Just wanted to petition a better face-off engine. After all, it's one of the minor yet important 1 on 1 battles that take place in our sport.

  Also, the goalies (my brethren) have had the same masks since '97, I know you've got tons to do but a more accurate representation of what they wear would be cool (i know, i know...copyright laws, blah, blah, blah...but close to what the masks actually look like would be nice).
