NCAA Football 10 Uniform Watch: 6/24/09

Posted On: Jun. 22, 2009 7:53 PM EST By: raczilla 25 Comments

Welcome back to NCAA Football 10 Uniform Watch, where we highlight one of the best uniforms created on the TeamBuilder website.  We'll highlight a new team every Wednesday here on the Inside EA SPORTS Blog.  Want to see your team highlighted?  Send us and email with images of your team to footballcommunity@ea.com .

Since the TeamBuilder website went live, I've been looking at a lot of teams that use the EA SPORTS logo.  A lot of people have used it since it's one of the default logos that's available in the tool, and I've been looking for a solid EA SPORTS team to put up on the site.  Today I ran across this one from matt21duke.  The colors are great and he's got up some good combinations for his alternate uniforms.  Both the red and blue look really sharp and I think it's one of the best EA SPORTS uniforms I've seen.

I do have one question though for Matt.  Why are they called the EA SPORTS Academy Eagles?  There's no eagle anywhere on the uniform.  I like it just the same.  Good work Matt.

Think you've got a great uniform that everyone would like to see?  Maybe you've got an even better one using the EA SPORTS logo?  Share your thoughts in the comments and maybe we'll see your creation here on the blog next week.

So much for Madden posts, eh Raczilla?

  • angelseclipse7@yahoo.com said June 24, 2009

Looks pretty good.  I'm going to make team Halo Union and try to get it on here.

  • angelseclipse7@yahoo.com said June 24, 2009

and yeah i agree with scuba.  I'm dying for a Madden post.  I realize that you guys have probably shown everything, but show us another game like the Titans game that you did.  That was cool.

Also 2 things that need to be added for 2011 is

    1. Get people to do the EA Sports it's in the game thing at the beginning again.  I really liked that.

    2. Training camp like in the last gen madden games.

"Why are they called the EA SPORTS Academy Eagles?  There's no eagle anywhere on the uniform."

Might want to ask that to the Fighting Irish, Crimson Tide, Nittany Lions, Golden Bears, Mountaineers, and countless others.

  • Antec21 said June 24, 2009

Adding to what Angeleclipse suggested on having training camps.

I've seen people suggest contract holdouts, and I always personally thought it would be hard to implement. But, then I thought, what if there is a training camp as the last bit of off-season preparation. Players that had a successful training camp could progress a bit, maybe 1-2 overall points. If a player was in the last year of his contract, and wanted more money, like Vince Wilfork and others this year, he could have a training camp hold out. Instead of progressing 1-2 overall points, he would regress 1-2 overall points because he's rusty. So either you lose salary cap space/clear room or keep him on the low salary and lose his overall points.

Loving the uniform editor on Team Builder!  Lots of potential.  Would like to see some enhancements to other areas of Team Builder though.  A customizeable stadium feature similar to the PS2 Create-A-School would be nice (with different press box options, scoreboards, stadium shapes/sizes, backgrounds, optional track/field).  New things that could be added could include optional endzone nets, tunnel locations,  customizeable campus backgrounds, and so on.

Other things that I would like to see come back: fight songs, editable sock patterns, being able to select rival school(s) (would be great if we can select other users as our rivals!), customizeable coach models.

And some new stuff that would be cool:  customizeable mascots (at least be able to change colors of existing mascots), editable cheerleader outfits, customizeable playbooks, layered uniform patters so we can stack mutliple styles and color patterns on top of each other for even more customizeability, creating a trophy for our rivalry game.

And something that would be amazingly awesome: being able to create a whole conference with its own scheduling rules, championship game, trophies, bowl game(s), and of course, teams.  That way, we can put a whole new conference in dynasties full of custom teams and not have to replace schools that exist in the real NCAA.

also to add on what megabearsfan said about the teambulder u guys should add more number options and some more helmets stripes like eagles wings

  • MegaBearsFan said June 25, 2009

actually, using a similar system as the logo upload, it may even be possible to eventually allow users to upload their own custom stripes and maybe even whole uniform patterns for literally ENDLESS possible uniforms/helmets.

Another thing I miss is being able to edit the jersey color of away uniforms.  I used to like to make my away jerseys have a very faint gold tint to them.  It looked REALLY nice on the old PS2 games.  Too bad I can't do that with my new TeamBuilder team.

  • MegaBearsFan said June 25, 2009

I wonder when we will be seeing a new Madden blog or some new gameplay info from the NCAA blog. . .

It was starting to become one of the highlights of my Mondays/Thursdays, but now I have nothing to do at work LoL.

Come on Raczilla, please stop with the NCAA 10 updates..NCAA 10 is all glitz and no substance.  For 6 months the developers of NCAA 10 have made promise after promise about upgrades that would be made in NCAA 10.  Well NCAA 10 has failed on every promise.  NCAA 10 is NCAA 09,08,07 with with the addition of field goal nets and goal post flags.  Good luck selling this horrible game to the knowlegable sports gaming fan.  The NCAA 10 developement team needs to have a sit down with IAn, Phil, and company and pick their respective brains to find out what it takes to make a quality sports game

  • ronnymund said June 25, 2009

Thanks for the update raczilla, I just hope that the lack of a Madden 10 blog entry for the past 3 weeks indicates that Madden 10 still falls under the "work in progress" catagory because there are more elements I hope to see added to the Madden 10 roster before its August release.  In years past the Madden development team posted early screen shots in June and attached the "work in progress" moniker to the updates, however when Madden was released two months later zero alterations were made to the original video/screen shot releases.  This year I see that producers like Ian and Phil Fraizer have made signifigant improvments to the original screenshots and videos for Madden and I hope the improvments continue to be maded up until the last possible minute.  Some of the improvments I hope to see include an option for high/low white socks in the edit player section, an option for having an unbuckled chin strap on one side of the players helmet, and finally I hope to see wideouts, kick/punt returners, and db's catch the football with two hands away from their body and carry the football with both hands on the ball prior to palming the football with one hand or tucking it away in a conservative manner.

mwea22 just shut up everybody has played the demo let them decide for themselves

  • DaManWitDaFacts said June 25, 2009

I don't think its that impressive, but oh well.

How do you upload your Uniform pics anyway?

  • MegaBearsFan said June 25, 2009

DaManWitDaFacts, are you asking about how to submit your teams for the "Uniform Watch"?  If so, when on the teambuilder website, go to "My Schools" and click on the one you want to upload.  In the upper right area of the screen, you will see underlined text that says "Save as Image".  Click it and save it as a jpg.  Then send an email with that image attached to the address indicated in the blog.

    Hope that answered your question.

  • MegaBearsFan said June 25, 2009

Oh, another thing that is missing from TeamBuilder: pride stickers.

Also, it would be cool if in the places on the uniform where we are allowed to put the team logo, we can put the team's nickname, abbreviation, school name, or the player's number instead.  That way, we could (for example) have "Tiburon University" displayed prominently on our chest without having to give up either the EA sports logo or the shark fin logo.  Conference and NCAA logo patches for the jersey and pants would also be a good addition.

  • patjohn said June 25, 2009

go check out the teams auther name is patjohn

  • michiganfan2 said June 26, 2009

Please look at mine. Made by Michiganfan2. My teams have every possible detail you would like. My teams are AMAZING. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU LOOK AT THESE TEAMS.

  • GoCavs71 said June 27, 2009

So are the teams that are going to be on the Uniform Watch just for completely custom teams? or could they be D-II or lower schools that people have made? Because I always like to make some High School teams from the area, and some of the local state colleges. So far I just have one down but am getting the hang of the Team Builder.

Also, if when time comes to do some updating on Team Builder, the ability to put text across the front of the Jersey without submitting a custom logo would be great! Thats my only real wish for the system to be honest.

  • scolock21 said June 30, 2009

    Connecticut Condors

  • Altony2179 said July 10, 2009

I think my two teams are better. Besides, one is named after the ship I serve on!!!
