NCAA Football 10 interactive Dynasty: Pre-season recruiting

Posted On: Jun. 28, 2009 1:22 AM EST By: raczilla 17 Comments

Now that we've got our full roster of players, it's time to head into the preseason.  I had a number of decisions to make in the pre-season, but the most important area to cover off was recruiting.  As every fan of the NCAA Football series knows, this is the first chance to see the recruits that are out there and add prospects to your team's recruiting board.  Let's take a look at some of what I've found out about our recruits.

My School

To compete with other top schools in the nation, you want to see your school highly ranked in all of the areas recruits tend to care about.  I left the Orlando Raczillas with the default set up of the powerhouse template, and that means they are really good at almost everything.  It might seem like it will make recruiting easy, but here's the thing... I decided to put this team into the SEC replacing Kentucky, so they're competing with some pretty tough schools in both their conference and their state.  Hopefully the top prospects know to choose the Raczilla's over the Gators.

Team Needs

I always like to recruit the best players available, but it's also important to recruit for need.  Here's a look at our team on both sides of the ball.  Fortunately there aren't a lot of areas with really pressing need so we'll be able to go after the best talent instead of trying to fix weak areas.

Top Recruits

Here's a look at the top 14 prospects in the nation.

Recruits interested in the Orlando Raczillas

And here are the players in the top 100 who are already wisely considering joining our squad.

Matt Wright

One of our best prospects so far is Matt Wright, the top ranked cornerback in this year's class.  He's got a lot of potential and is a hard hitter, which I love, but we're competing with two other top Florida schools to get him.  More on Matt Wright next week as we dive into recruiting and our week 1 game against Notre Dame!

What's next?

I'm going to try and get to the next post ASAP (I'm traveling this week but I'll give it a shot!).  Let me know what questions you have and what your thoughts are about recruiting.  Do you think I should be going after certain players?  Are there specific kinds of players I should search for?  Are there players in that top 10 for whom you'd like to see more stats?  Let me know.

You'll also want to follow me on Twitter as I've been talking back in forth with fans to help make decisions about the schedule, playbooks, etc.  I might even have time to do some live recruiting via Twitter when I'm back in the office next week, so look out for that and send me some questions and comments in the mean time!

I also look for those hard hitting players . so are we a power run team, are we spread or an option team. I guess I missed that update :)

on Defence what are we 3-4 , 4-3, 4-4 or 46 ? some types of D players are a must at some positions, but you know all that stuff..

QB I think in the NCAA must be able to run with so many teams going out of the spread Offence now and have a accurate arm more than strength

Anyways man thanks for keeping us up to date on the dynasty .. :)

Been missing you on twitter dude .lol

    Thanks

guys i just seen the road to glory video for ncaa 10 and it lokk super fire check out this video ncaafootball.easports.com/home.action madden should put something like this in madden 10 superstar mode

played the demo for this. it has the same problems as madden 09, but is even worse. Hope Madden didn't just focus on looks like NCAA did. The stadiums, pregame and halftime thigs are great. But, the gameplay is completely broken. If Madden's gameplay does not improve from 09 I will be very disappointed. I'll see if i want to buy madden based on the demo, wont be getting NCAA though.

SEC, good choice, i would try for Matt Wright(CB), Greg Pollard(MLB), and Jason Jones(QB).

all three are needs, not by much but still needs, and all highly ranked.

since we are not really in for major needs get those top recuits for sure, that we can use in a few years.

speed kills and (except for the o line ad DTs) i think you should try for the best combo of speed and skill not necessarily the best overall but relatively slow

also what schemes did u decide upon?

Are there any plans to release an NCAA game over here in the UK?

oh, how annoying hates are, I bet they understand that everyone wants everything all at once - and you need to at least be polite people, catch more flies with honey and all that. Keep it going Rac, I for one find this realy interesting - hoping for some video of game one if possible. I think with a powerhouse structure we should go with best athletes - its the best way to KEEP a powerhouse structure - unless there is a tendancy for stronger corners - like in Madden 09 - where you can pick up useful corners in later rounds who develop quickly - linemen are traditionally harder to develop - maybe we should recruit a tackle or 2 - we only have 4 and currently don't have any freshmen -we don't have any freshmen gaurds - can you look into berry, ray and crawford a little more?

Personally, I like to make sure I build the O-Line early. The better your hogs the better your pass and run game will be. That said, I also like to get the highest rated guys interested in my school. I'm sure you'll make a good choice.

    Cheers!

i think we should defenetly go for Matt Wright(CB), and Greg Pollard(MLB), there were alot of people asking to be QB's in the other blog post.  I also think we should go after some ATH's because the can play a variety of positions!
