Madden NFL 10: Let's Talk Ratings with Ratings Czar Donny Moore

Posted On: Sep. 4, 2009 7:04 AM EST By: Dewiel 4 Comments

Hey Madden NFL 10 fans! Have you been looking for a place to discuss the roster and ratings moves for your favorite NFL team in Madden NFL 10? Well, look no further! We recently set up team specific threads in the Roster and Ratings section of the Madden NFL Forums where Madden NFL Ratings Czar Donny Moore is interacting and taking into consideration your thoughts on your team's ratings in Madden NFL 10. Is there a guy that you feel is over/under rated in the game? Now's your chance to let the guy making the decisions know.

All that we ask is for you to keep it clean and bring facts when you come to make your argument. Keep in mind, not every guy can be underrated on your team, and there's probably someone on your team that you feel is overrated. Donny wants to hear both sides of the argument! To join in on your favorite NFL team's discussion, simply click on their team name below and head over to the EA SPORTS Madden NFL series forums.

No need to disscuss ratings. The game sux. After all this time being anxious. The way the game has to be played is just as bad as last year to me. Football in a Box. Thats basically what it is. You guys took the whole "Fight For Every Yard" thing way too far. You cant throw one go route without ur receiver( doesnt matter who it is)having to be interacted with after the catch. Against man coverage it NEVER HAPPENS. No one can ever just get burned. And ill be the first to say that last year those routes to Randy Moss or the Raiders receivers (becuz of Russell"s arm) was really Bullshit. But to have it not be able to happen at all now is just as bad. 11 men in the box and theres now way to make the D pay for it? The pass is either way over thrown or it hits an invisible wall and never gets past the Safety. Or even the CB. Ive even had my brother play man D with a Suspect Db and change the safety's responsibilty and still the Db is either beating the rec to the spot or attempting an all out swat and MISSING, only to turn all the way around while still in the air and take a Piggy Back ride on the Receiver. Hugh disappointment, Again. Madden...im done. Hopfully alot of others are to.

Donny, I must first give credit to Peter, Ian, Phil, and he other distinguished members of the Madden 10 dev team for finally following through on EA's promise to produce the most realistic & authentic football video game ever.  It seems as though the members of the Madden 2010 dev took the gamer seriously this year and actually used the vast array of ideas that the EA gamers expressed on the EA Sports fan forum as a resource when making Madden 10.  The pro-tak animations (although they may need a bit of tweaking before Madden 2011 www.youtube.com/watch) as well as the attention that Ian and company paid to the creation of new player models trully seems to have enhanced the gameplay of Madden 10 by epic proportions.  By introducing simplistic uniform options such as hand towels, hand warmers, cleat updates, and better ankle tape jobs (I do however wish you would go back to the tape jobs seen in Madden 01-07 for the PS2) Ian and company were able to dynamically alter the overall look of Madden 10 and give the game a more realistic touch compared to the stagnant player models that were seen in Madden 07-09.  Another aspect that adds to the realistic look of Madden 10 is the variety of QB throwing motions that allows the gamer to differentiate a Qb like Tony Romo, who slings the football with a side arm motion from a Qb like Peyton Manning, who throws the football with a more conventional over the top motion.  With all this being,  I believe that in order to keep the world's most popular football game progressing instead of regressing like prior editions of Madden (needless to say Madden 07-09) all the afore mentioned elements not only need to be applauded but must also be expanded upon in Madden 2011.  In Madden 2011 I hope to see the idea of player specific throwing motions expanded upon to include the signature ways in which running backs in the NFL actually run with the football.  For instance, some players like Brandon Jacobs run violently through the line (www.youtube.com/watch ) while others like Adrian Peterson hit the hole with power and run with grace as they break away from the pack ( www.youtube.com/watch ) and other running backs, in the mold of Reggie Bush, run like track stars through the line and continue this motion as they break into the open ( www.youtube.com/watch ).  Secondly, I hope that the muscle definition of the Madden 10 player models are upgraded to rival the muscle definition of the players seen in NBA Live 10( insideblog.easports.com/.../matt_5F00_imageWM.jpg ).  Please do not get me wrong, the player models in Madden 10 are realistic looking and very detailed in nature but I just hope to see the player models in Madden 2011 upgraded a bit.  In the NBA Live 10 picture I provided above you can actually see the calluses on the players arms as well as their signature tattoos.  Another aspect I hope to see added to Madden 2011 is players carrying the football with both hands on the pigskin after making a reception or an interception.  Players like Deion Sanders made carrying the football with two hands on the ball a staple characteristic that ( www.youtube.com/watch, www.youtube.com/watch,  www.youtube.com/watch, www.youtube.com/watch) many of today's wide receivers and defensive backs ( www.jamd.com/.../chad+johnson, www.gettyimages.com/.../Getty-Images-Sport,  www.talkingnfl.com/.../samuelint.jpg ) continue to display when they carry the football with two hands on the ball prior to palming the ball with one hand ala Deangelo Hall in this picture (blog.nj.com/.../large_dhalltrade ).  On a side note, carrying the football with two hands on the ball is an animation that can be seen in NCAA 10 when option Qb's run with the football prior to pitching the pigskin to an awaiting running back ( www.youtube.com/watch ). Apart from palming the football with two hands, I would also hope that by 2011 equipment upgrades like new cleat brands, namley Nike, Adidas, Under Armour (www.eastbay.com/.../Nike%20Vapor%20Jet%204.2%20D%20-%20Men%27s, www.eastbay.com/.../Nike%207V7%20TD%20%20-%20Men%27s, www.eastbay.com/.../Under%20Armour%20Soflo%20Low%20D%20-%20Men%27s, www.gettyimages.com/.../Getty-Images-Sport, www.jamd.com/.../charles+woodson ) can be implemented into the game as well.  Finally, I hope that an upgrade can be administered to pre-game/practice attire that is worn by many of today's NFL players during their respective training camps and during pre-game warm-ups.  One equipment look I would love to see added to Madden 11 is when players pull the bottom of their jerseys up to the front of their armpits and rest their jerseys on top of the straps that protrude from their shoulder pads .  Here are some pictures that display this cool look (www.gettyimages.com/.../Getty-Images-Sport, www.gettyimages.com/.../Getty-Images-Sport, www.gettyimages.com/.../Getty-Images-Sport, ndn.newsweek.com/.../071128_SeanTaylor_vl-vertical.jpg,
