Madden Ultimate Team: Card Inserts Set #1

Hey everybody -

I'm Josh Looman, the lead designer of Madden Ultimate Team.

I wanted to thank all of you for the overwhelming response to Madden Ultimate Team and let you know about a special promotion we're starting tomorrow morning (Friday, Feb. 5th).

We'll be releasing a new group of cards tomorrow morning as an insert set. That means that the cards will be available in gold and platinum packs only and they will be available for a limited time. These particular cards have not been available in the game at any point up to now and you won't be able to buy them in Weekly Deals. You can only find them in packs. Once we remove them from the packs, you will not be able to find them again.

We'll be releasing more sets in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for new cards in the future.

This first batch is Set #1 and it features ten unique cards. The cards contain new images for every player, some of them from Sunday's Pro Bowl. All of the cards are Legendary tier cards.

Here's a list of the cards that will be available in packs starting tomorrow morning...

2010 Pro Bowl Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns

Cribbs is one of the NFL's most dynamic players. He is a Pro Bowl kick returner, a great runner out of the wildcat formation, a starting receiver and a former college QB. We set him up as a HB in this card because of his success in the Wildcat. Use him at multiple positions on your team to see where he fits best. This legendary card honors his 2010 Pro Bowl selection.

2009 All-Pro Dallas Clark, Indianapolis Colts

Clark is a wide receiver in a TE's body and he's one of the Colts most dangerous weapons. This legendary card honors his All-Pro 2009 season.

2010 Pro Bowl Elvis Dumervil, Denver Broncos

Dumervil is a beast of a rush linebacker. He led the NFL and set the Broncos single season record with 17 sacks. You can line him up at OLB or DE in Madden and receive an instant pass rush upgrade. This legendary card honors his 2010 Pro Bowl selection.

2005 Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch

Branch had a fantastic game in Super Bowl XXXIX, winning the MVP trophy after grabbing eleven receptions and beating the Eagles 24-21. This legendary card honors his MVP award.

2009 All-Pro Jahri Evans, New Orleans Saints

Evans is one of the best interior linemen in the NFL, tasked with the responsibility of keeping Drew Brees on his feet and keeping the running game going. This legendary card honors his All-Pro season in 2009.

2010 Pro Bowl Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos

Marshall is one of the top 5 receivers in the NFL, as evidenced by his NFL record 21 receptions against the Colts in Week 14. This legendary card honors his Pro Bowl selection.

2010 Pro Bowl Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans

Johnson is obviously one of the most electric players in the NFL this season, breaking the 2000 yard barrier. This legendary card honors his Pro Bowl selection.

 

Set #1, Card #8

1994 Junior Seau, San Diego Chargers

Seau is one of the best linebackers in NFL history and his 1994 season was a great one. He finished that year with 155 tackles, a career high. This legendary card honors his amazing season in 1994.

2010 Pro Bowl Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers

Jackson had a fantastic 2009 season, emerging as the clear #1 target for Phillip Rivers and he topped it all off with 7 catches for 122 yards in the Pro Bowl last Sunday. This legendary card honors his Pro Bowl selection.

2010 All-Pro Ryan Clady, Denver Broncos

Clady has emerged as one of the best left tackles in the NFL. This legendary card honors his 2009 All-Pro season.

Well, that's the list of of cards. Remember, you can only get these cards in gold and platinum packs for a limited time starting Friday morning.

    lower the freaking price of the packs dude, really 9000 coins for a platinum pack is crazy when you only get 550-750 coins for crushing someone.

    ya agreed the price of packs is outrageous. either lower the price or give more points for winning. Its impossible to run a team and collect new cards when you don't even have enough to keep your contracts from expiring. is trading amongst players in the works? I'd rather donate cards that auction for 150 to friends that actually could use them.

    Ultimate Madden is great but I too agree losing the contracts would be great. You would still have a 55 player card limit so you would be forced to auction off the cards you don't want or need to get coins. Also prices for cards are kind of steep. I agree on player to player trades as well. It's still a great game though. I haven't played a regular game of madden since. My #1 though would be to remove contracts.

    I AGREE PACKS COST TO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU GET. I SPENT MY MONEY ON NINE PACKS THIS WEEK AND I GOT 1 INSERT CARD IN ALL 9 PACKS  WHAT A RIPPMOFF  I AM DONE WITH THIS BUSINESS . ALL INSERTS MUST BE ON AUCTION BLOCK FOR SALE SO PEEPS CAN RECOUP SOME COINS TO CONTRACT UP AGAIN.

    I think contracts are fine for what the game was intended for. You aren't supposed to have a team of legends. It gives another dimension to card worth. It is sort of like a system of quality. You would rather buy a new madden game on ebay than a used one and a mint condition baseball card than a mangled one. This way is much more realistic to running a team, it makes you choose how much you want to spend on each position. It's not going to ever change so stop whining all the time.

    Josh why put the packs out i spent so many coins trying to get these new cards you brag about .. all i get is the same people you make everyone waste money on your b.s cards .. i also lost microsoft points trying to buy coins 1200 might i add i was trying to get 90,000 coins and i end up with noth you dont respond on your twitter so why post it wow what why to make people happy way to.. you don t even set a limit on hoy much they can sell or bid for so other go crazy on high buyouts there should be a limit so we all have a chance at the same card .. nice job josh

    back to the online franchice dont have to lose microsoft points or get same players over and over and your legendary cards get real .. marshall faulk that might be a legendary terry bradshaw ... but a player still playing you call that legendary gees what a let down dude .. and i need my points or coins refund if im going to get ripped off by your madden addition.. my gamer tag is smoothpace81 can someone help?

    josh you have to change a few things in m.u.t. when we win a game the ave. coins we recieve is 400-600 on average. the amount of games we have to play to get a platimum pack well is unachievable. you already know that. to play as many games to get a plat pack we would have run out of contracts. so instead of spending my coins on packs im replenishing my contracts. the only way to get better cards to get coins is obvious is to spend my hard earned money. one of these days your going to get a parent who took there dads credit card to purchase coins then what. this game is to be enjoyed by all ages and incomes. who wants to play m.u.t. with mike kneel of the seahawks as there quarterback not many. who wants to lose every game. its like playing army of one and never firing a weapon because you have to buy bullets to shoot the villians. thats the way most of us feel. the idea is great, the amount of money we spend to be cometitive is ridiculous. between all the weekly specials and inserts the average player is spending 50.00 a week. madden 11 will probably be out in july then this copy will be traded to my local game store for about seven dollars if im lucky. as far as coins to dollars i'd be lucky to get the same amount for the game as it was for me to buy the contracts to keep my players.
