As part of a European press tour last month, FIFA 10 Xbox 360/PS3 producer David Rutter jetted into sunny Guildford, UK. He spent all day talking to the nation’s gaming press and select members of the FIFA community about the latest build of the game, which was on hand for all those assembled to get to grips with. The large-major-big-thing announced at that time was the inclusion of a brilliant and brand-new feature in FIFA 10: customisable set pieces.
But because Mr Rutter was so busy talking to actual important people, we weren’t able to grab him for an interview of our own. So be it, we thought - we’ll jump his cab to the airport and quiz him on the way. Relax, Mr Rutter? We think not…
Watch the resulting interview below. As well as hearing David discuss his latest FIFA 10 revelations, you’ll also notice a few tasty, sneakily filmed snippets of game footage. Most interesting among those snippets is the customisable set piece feature itself.
That footage, I should stress, was filmed on the sly at the press event, so it’s not representative of the final game. Still, you should get a nice idea of what’s in store nonetheless.
(You may also get an idea of why filming video in a luxury BMW isn’t necessarily a brilliant idea. Your soft-bellied cameraman will get powerfully carsick because he “doesn’t like going backwards”, the car’s air conditioning will spit strange dusty residue all over your lens without you noticing, and the driver’s accelerator pedal will produce an odd electromagnetic whine all over your soundtrack. Nice car, though…)
