Art Director Mike Day gives us a quick look at Dept of Field in FIFA 10. Mike joined EA SPORTS from a lighting background in CG
animated movies. Initially he was the Lighting Supervisor for the Central Art
group where he oversaw the development of lighting technologies for a variety
of games and platforms. However, Mike is a very versatile artist and he soon
transitioned into the Art Director role, initially helping out with FIFA 07
Xbox360. After that, he became the sole Art Director for Champions League 2007,
Euro 2008, FIFA Ultimate Team and Football Academy. Most recently he art
directed the latest installment in the FIFA franchise, FIFA 10 Xbox 360/PS3.
As we get toward the end of this development cycle on FIFA 10,
we’ve been busy taking screen shots of the game for marketing. As some
of you may, or may not have noticed in previous years, many of the
screen shots would include depth of field.
