  • NHL 09 EASHL Invitational Announcement

After months of online gaming, we’ve reached the final days of the inaugural season to the EASHL.  We would like to thank each and every player for their time playing the game and making it an enjoyable challenge for all players whether you were a team vying for top spot or a team that just enjoyed playing for the love of the game.  You all have made the online league experience a most memorable one.

With that being said, we are announcing the end of the regular season on June 14th with the first round of the EASHL Invitational to begin on June 27th and the Championship Finals to be held at EA Canada August 5th-7th.

EA SPORTS and the NHL team will be selecting eight teams from the Xbox 360 Conference and eight teams from the PS3 Conference to take part in the EASHL Invitational.   The teams will be selected based on their ranking as of 12:01AM on June 15, 2009.  We will take a snapshot of the top teams and select the sixteen teams to invite to the tournament.   GM’s of the invited teams will be contacted and will have to submit their rosters prior to the start of the tournament.

The format of the console online tournament will be single-game elimination with the first round starting at 12:00PM PST on June 27th, the second round at 12:00PM PST on July 4th, and the console finals on July 11th at 12:00PM PST.  The console finalists will then be invited to EA Canada to take part in a 7-Game Championship series to determine and crown the 2009 EASHL Champion.  Details will be communicated with GM’s.

In order to be eligible, players must be legal residents of any of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (except for CT, MD, IA, and VT) and Canada (except Quebec) who are 19 years of age as of June 14th, 2009.  Teams selected that play with players that are not eligible will default their teams.

For the official rules, find them at NHL 09 EASHL Invitational

Following the close of the regular season, teams not invited are still able to play online within the EASHL.

We understand that over the next couple of weeks there will be many teams vying for the top spots and we want to urge all teams to play fair as we will continue to disqualify and wipe records of teams that have been caught unfairly winning games.

Thank you for your patience throughout the season as we look to finish strong, build on successes, and improve on the great addition that the EA SPORTS Hockey League has been to online gaming.
